  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Evolution of RED

thanx amazing, I must compare it with my collection .... but, where is Frankie?

This is the "breadbox". It had a 1/3" slice of the Mysterium sensor!

Check out the sticker...

that is Awesome. From humble begininngs..... :)

Whoa! I was combing through these and I *still* want that top bracket piece. Hey Jim or Jarred, any of these lying around the warehouse? It'd be nice to mount for a stripped down package.

sweet- I guess I never saw a picture of frankie until now.

after I first heard about red I think the first picture I saw was the bad ass tie fighter configuration- It was at that moment that I was sold:

i can't wait to see more of these pre production shots in the Red 'making of' book.

Of course, the R1 was inside "Frankie", just like new models in an exotic car mag are hidden by various panels. Very cool!

But this trip down memory lane is poignant now because over a thousand potential R1s have fallen into filmmakers hands IN THE PAST MONTH ALONE!

I was about to start a new thread to commemorate the awesome progress of this private company, and then I found this nice little corner to post in.

New lenses, storage, the pro lcd, and what November brings. Holy cow! I even noticed that I can access RED here in Taiwan on a traditional Chinese webpage! That's new as of today, too! (Although Taiwan and surrounding islands are a 'bit' off in map-rendering, and I can't read much Chinese...).

Red Digital Cinema is now a player to be 'reconed' with. You can all still smoke, but the pipe dream is over - Red is reality!

Any news on the replacement of those placeholders??

In any case, the thread should probably be updated with the latest iteration of the "classic" RED camera, which I would presume is the EPIC-X. I'll post the current render. I expect it to change somewhat by the time it comes out...

Although the prototypes at NAB were very similar, as far as I can tell.
