  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EVF & LCD problems

ok, finner, if you´re talking about cables that come free at rental, then that´s right.
But I also never made the experience that i.e. Arri gives you any cables for free. In this case red is an exception by even putting one into the set.

Since cables break in the areas they bend the most, was there any thought about a "rotational" jacks at both ends of the cable ? A miniature conductive heads that bend on the similar principle like RED arm ?
They would significantly increase the life span of the cables.

I already asked for at least an L-shaped plug, since it also keeps cables from sticking out too far.

This plumbing material could be cool bulletproof cable armour.. Painted black! Would be suitable more for long lengths for flexibility

I strongly agree with Finner on the need to be able to purchase backup cables for all parts. I will happily pay for them.

Given the fact that RED parts will be scarce in the world for at least the next year, anyone who works professionally with this camera will need back-ups. The argument that they are well made doesn't fly because even well made parts fail. Parts that get plugged in and rubbed are especially prone to fail.

When a producer turns to you and you say sorry your production day is fucked because I couldn't buy a $100 cable you ain't gonna be working together much in the future.

Exactly, well put Clay.

For those who have bought an ARRI camera and not recived free bonus extras work on getting a better relationship with the ARRI rep in your area. I have never even bought an ARRI camera but my kit grows with free ARRI gear every year.

damn...i'm going to take him to lunch today. Then start working on my relationship with my Red rep so I can receive all my free bonus Red extras too.

One nice thing about RED is that it looks like most of the cables are Lemo. Of all the cables I own these have been the least prone to failure. When they have failed it has been from obvious abuse.... ie catching the falling camera by the cable.... Pulling the dolly with the cable....

Maybe we can work on the RED crew together. Matt and Jarred look like they like to party. I figure we take them out for a wild night of booze and transvestite strippers get them loaded and take a bunch of incriminating photos and jackpot we are in the free stuff game. That or Matt is smart enough to figure out our scheme, Jarred turns out to be an angry drunk and crushes us between his fingers like little bugs.

So are ya in?

I'm guessing the Hoff-pants with throbbing neon blue Arri logo cod-piece must do the trick, but I'm not sure the Red team will be so easily impressed.

Yea, I'm in...but lets get one non-transvestite stripper for us.

Doesn't that answer your questions?

Hey Rob if this is your way of asking to come to the "Booze filled Transvestite stripper party of debauchery" all you had to do was ask. Your more then welcome to come, it did'nt seem like Matt was to keen on it anyway.

May I respectfully suggest RED use Monster Cables as they're so cost-effective. *ducks, runs away*

:D
