  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Everything you wanted to know about the EPIC Canon Mount

Searched and Searched, but is the Scarlet X capable of the AF or IS functions? Can't seem to successfully get it to work on my Scarlet here w/ EF-S 17-55.

Make sure your lens is set to Autofocus then a menu tab appears with various options. V2.05

Autofocus, but still no way to pull focus with a normal focus wheel, using the lens motors? Any news on solutions for doing that?

Apologies if this has already been asked, but will the Aluminum Canon mount be made available for sale as a seperate component? And if so, any word on when and for how much?

DD.

not any time soon.. until at least all the Scarlet orders are caught up.

To add to the list of lenses that still need to be profiled:

Canon 200mm f/2.8L (currently when attached it looses control of the iris and states it's either a 200mm or 41000mm lens, sometimes it works)
Sigma 300mm f/2.8 (currently iris opens and shuts wildly)

I didn't see the Canon 135mm f/2L on any list yet, but it appears to work just fine after 8 uses. Everything else I've tested is working wonderfully!

I'm having problems like that with my 70-200 2.8L.

Sometimes it won't communicate with the camera body at all.

When this happens, I found that if I briefly detach and re-attach my Canon 24-105 while the camera is on, it'll often re-communicate with the body. That re-enables iris and stabilization. Obviously not ideal, but works for me since I'm not using a matte box or follow focus on my current project.

Switching my Tamron 17-50 from auto to manual focus and back again seems to help the camera see it.

I've been testing the Canon 800mm 5.6L and it works great on Epic. Works with the 2X TC III also. Haven't had any problems with my Canon mount lenses.

Canon lenses I've tested:
14mm 2.8L
24mm 1.4L II
16-35mm 2.8L II
70-200mm 2.8L II
2x TC III

Found another lens that needs to be profiled:

Here's the short list of what needs to be looked at:
-Canon 100mm f/2.0
-Canon 200mm f/2.8L
-Sigma 300mm f/2.8
-Sigma 14mm f/2.8

*Although I don't expect any miracles for the Sigma 14mm f/2.8 as it's been discontinued for a good long while now.

Every other Canon lens I've tested works fine.

Hi Phil,

did you happen to test the Canon EF 50mm 1.8 II? That seems to be one of the lightest lenses that has a reasonable performance.

But I only would get it if Auto-Focus works and it's not in the list Jarred posted.

Btw. Jarred, any chances of posting an updated compatibility list for all lenses currently working on the Canon mount?

Thanks a lot,
Mike

Has anyone received any allocation notices for Canon mount orders placed in October? Patiently waiting in the bushes to catch a glimpse of the fabled Scarlet X Canon TI...

I can't seem to figure out what the Circle of Confusion for Epic is in full 5K. At NAB someone told me it's around .025, but that's the same for super 35mm film!

Jarred will you update this list with the lenses that work, possibly an *next to the ones that are added in BETA?

If you ordered the Ti Canon Mount today... does anyone know when it would ship?
Last I read was "DSMC Ti Canon Mount - Out of backorder January 31st"

Jarred, can you please update the list of Sigma lenses support now?

We tested with 120-300mm F2.8 and 500mm F4.5 and they work great.
