  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Everything you wanted to know about the EPIC Canon Mount

Just goes to show you - you can't tell, I can see the difference in some of the artifacting due in part to some S16mm, some XD CAM, Some RRPrimes, there is a mix.

You got me. The footage on the reel doesn't look at all like it was shot on something high quality. Why is the frame size 1440x1080?

Shot this Tuesday on Epic. 4KHD, 120fps and 2k 300fps mixed. Used the Canon Mount with the 70-200L for about 80% of it, and a little bit with the 24-70.

COMPRESSION SUX! the ProRezHQ files look much better one shot for whatever reason couldn't handle the reds in the corner ... odd. Frame size, question for the editor, maybe he did the best with the different formats. I have two more reels coming but this one will be colored and then reposted and we can see the before and after.

. . . should we tell "Crush" the artist that his lens cap is on (1:18)

Great job Jonathan! Canon glass gives it a creamy S16 feel! I love it.. why does the shot of the coach stand out so much? it looks good, just something odd about the quality of it.. Also, did you punch in, in post for his CU or did you do it on set?

Anyway, well shot, edited, and just fun.. I don't know if your a Friday night lights fan, but it had that feel.. Except it looked better ;-)

Hope to get my mount soon..

Thanks Justin! The coach's interview was at different focal lengths. I tend to reframe during interviews in between each question for variety, so I would have a medium shot for some sound bites and a close up for others. Sometimes I just get lucky and happen to be in on a close up when they give me a really meaningful or important sound bite. I think the best thing about the coach's interview is the variety of fall colors in the background, coupled with the dreamy L-series bokeh and some very nice natural lighting. I'm glad you like it, I'm particularly proud of his interview footage.

wow....still dealing with first hour orders. Mine was ordered next day....oh well

This is getting ridiculous. People that ordered in the first hour are just getting there mount. Plus what is the point of having a mount with no Epic. I bet there's going to be a huge rental market for the Canon mount.

Jarred, what is taking so long with these mounts. I know you guys are faster than this...most of the time.

I don't think you guys quite understand just how many mounts were sold in that first day... I know we could of never anticipated that ordering frenzy in a million years.

Anyways.. nothing is wrong.. we are making them as fast as we can and shipping them out the door. Remember.. these are machined, out of titanium, which isn't exactly the "quickest" process in the world :)

He he My fault... ;)

In all seriousness I knew it it would have happened and announced all over the place, it was simply a no brainer that this things would have gone out the door faster then any one could possibly make them.

The gazillions of views in the Birger thread back in the day might have been an indication :)

Now we can just hope you release that elusive electronic Nikon mount(!)

Totally appreciate the effort it takes to machine these Jarred....

it uses to say in the module shipping dates thread, that the first week of orders for the canon mount would have been out in 2 weeks.....

Any chance of an update on that estimate....are we close or looking at weeks/months?

Thanks

Thanks for the update Jarred....I know a lot of people sitting on these mounts who dont have REDs and that drives me crazy, has RED ever considered some way for camera owners to have some priority? I guess that would just complicate things. Anyways, good luck getting them out. Look forward to getting one of these.
