  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Ergo...

Please sell this camera to me now!!!

My Canon HV20 is killing me!!!

Ok - seriously - did the Scarlet delivery window get updated? I know the overtime is squashed so when might we see the cameras rolling off the production line (estimate)?

Cool, gotcha.

Now how about one with a timecode box, downconverter, transmitter, MDR, voltage meter, follow focus and mattebox? :)

[I'm kidding, don't worry. Looks nice and sleek.]

I suppose judging balance would be irrelevant with the current setup, yeah? I'm assuming that the body is heavier than it will be [unless it's machined out to the current specs internally as well?] and the batteries towards the rear are lacking cells?

Are the clearances proper on the universal mount on the bottom of the camera? Or am I completely overanalyzing it in its current state?

Digging it. This will be fun. Reminds me of a few years ago... :)

Totally cool.
I'm finding it hard for anyone to find much fault with this.
Quite a few of us have been modular 'true believers' and 'got it' since 'way back.' :gun:

Scarlet student cam config next?????

OK, the next photo will probably be the SLR config, but after????

My curiosity runs rampant.

Like... I see the two battery module. So is it two or three? How does the module joint attachment work? Where are my pants? Wait... skip that last one.

Gotta love those rhetorical questions eh Brook?

He did say it was NOT the final design.

The human perspective makes it look like a lot smaller form factor than
the earlier renders, which is really exciting.

:ranting2: the economy. Ill take 2 please!

With adding a longer lens, it looks like you can balance it really well. Just slide your hand grips forward on longer rods, the shoulder mount forward, and then your lens support just behind your hand grips or in-front of the grips to help balance the set up. It looks really convenient and I bet it will balance well. Its also looks like it has a pretty low center of gravity too!

The optical axis looks delightfully low.

If you guys are willing to entertain requests, I'd love to see a setup at some point similar to this but without the still camera handgrip... and with the control unit on the smart side. Just think of how I'd rig it, basically.

This 1st one is a "brain" with a full compliment of modules and handles.

Jim,
looks like without R1 'legacy' accessories, it'll weigh at least 12/15lbs. One anchor point might be enough...but with R1 accessories, lens etc it will go over 25/30lbs. I guess in this situation you'll have it anchored at 2 points (like R1).
Is this correct? any hints on how?
Dave

Thx for the compliments man.. and I agree with you, I gotta do more of these.

Glad you like it.

Yes, Jarred... I love that it's an actual prototype and not a render. Goes so much farther for cred. I was actually thinking the opposite of most people, in that I imagined the renders to be smaller than the prototype.

Good looking stuff. I'm totally impressed. Thanks.

Kyle

Thank Jim it was his idea :)

heh heh heh..

Looking forward to this week, everybody! I haven't stopped making films durin the wait, but I have to say I cannot wait to see what this baby can do. Thanks for the ride so far! :}

If you are taking requests for configurations, would love to see the stereo rig!

This looks bad ass!! Can you give us an average on what a system like this weighs? I'm really loving the idea that the pounds are coming off...

Can I ask... will a like for like (functional wise) one of these modular cameras be a similar weight to a RED ONE? It looks like it might be. I'm curious from a tripod head requirement viewpoint.

Oops! Ivan G beat me to it.

Odd man out here. Can't say I'm a fan of how it looks. Reminds me of something out of the 1970s.

However, I HAVE seen a Star Trek render previously, I need to focus on that and make sure mine looks like that baby. ;)

Just waiting Double J... nice job TEAM
Keep InspiRED

Actually, I have to agree with you. Looks a bit "boxy". I think my RED ONE is much prettier. But I like the functionality and the ease of keeping it current. And what it does is more important to me than looks.
