ER on RED...

meh love da show "ER" meh would like ta get a free pass ta visit da set does any one haz any suggestions? Thank ya’ll in advance

The new series of long-running British sci-fi comedy Red Dwarf is being filmed on RED according to actor Robert Llewelyn (who plays the andriod Kryten in the show). From his video podcast (about 3min in): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrGM4dxRS8c

Jim, I think you have your new tagline (if you ever needed one) right there "Red...so good I'm glad my face is covered in rubber"

I don't understand why after shooting 35mm film for 15 seasons (!) (ignoring the 60i HD "live" episode) they want to switch formats for the last four episodes. I could understand maybe if they had their budget cut for the final season and switched to digital for that whole season, but only the last four episodes? There must be some reason other than "hey it would be cool to try this camera out."

perhaps the producer has RED in mind for future shows and here is a chance to try it out while NBC's $$ are flowing in ... if they have any workflow problems they have to solve them ( quickly) = they now have 35mm vs. Red production/post hard $$numbers ... the next show the producer's go to they can use those $numbers to see if there are any savings ??

So when will we see Red episodes Brook? Or is it only being used as a 2nd unit camera?

We only shoot RED now. Last night's episode was shot before we switched to RED, but they needed a few pickup shots after we switched.

The all-RED episodes are coming very soon. The final seven episodes are all RED. I'll keep you guys posted.

Think I heard the same producers used the RED on a pilot for their new series. The real truth is probably WB politics. Since the RED is digital it allows them to work under the AFTRA contract, not SAG, and they are testing it out with the thought of shifting all WB lot production to digital. It's a club against the SAG.
