  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

ER on RED...

It's great news for Red, but I have to ask, why would they make such a potentially disruptive change with only seven episodes to shoot? Would they be saving so much money?

It sounds to me like Brook is doing the job so he can better answer than me but I would say that this is a way for the network and the production company to stick their toe in the "lake of RED" with relatively smaller risks. The show is ending one way or another.

Past that, Episodical tv has been a hard one for us traveling Red preachers to get to "come to jesus (or jim as it were)." f900 have seen plenty of work. Genesis has eat'n plenty of pie as well. The f23 is coming on strong. The issues lie in the fact that thirteen 44min shows is 9 1/2 hours of content. 9 1/2 hours on a deadline while you already have so much knowledge and money invested in other was to skin the cat.

Leverage, Sanctuary and now ER are big mile stones. Lets hope that is the breaking of the dam.

Cheers to Red, and who ever (Brook) works the gig.

The Listener

The Listener

See note below: The Listener was also shot on RED

Worldwide bow for The Listener
by: Etan Vlessing Jan 14, 2009 •
The Fox network will make broadcast history in March when it launches the Shaftesbury Films' drama The Listener across 180 of its foreign cable and satellite channels over a one-week window, well before Canadian and American viewers see the homemade drama later this year.
Much like releasing a Hollywood blockbuster movie overseas to build buzz before a North American theatrical bow, Fox International Channels says the first-ever worldwide global premiere of a U.S. network drama in the first week of March will stoke anticipation for the debut of the series on CTV and NBC stateside later in 2009.
The Listener, a 13 x 60 drama about a young paramedic who can read minds, will debut on Fox TV channels in Britain, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Mexico, Japan, Korea, Poland, Brazil and Turkey.

Thanks, Eric. I am indeed the DIT on ER.

Can't say much for obvious reasons... but you guys have a lot to look forward to when these shows air! :)

Don't f-k it up! :bleh:

It really is all riding on the work flow... if this test goes well with no hiccups it will speed things up considerably, so I am glad to see that they realized the importance of the DIT or DMT position and got someone with experience for the job. Hopefully there aren't too many boot up bugs also or anything of the sort. One thing going for it is that no sound will be recorded in camera... anywho, can you say what build will they use?

Go, Brook!

Brook - Can you comment of the workflow they are using? or at least post it in the correct forum and have a link from here?

Either way it's not the "best" form to talk about it till it is over. That way they have a chance to deal with any growing pains, questions and bugs before they air their laundry for the world to criticize.

Most big projects don't want you talking about it till it's over.

All I say is what took them so long....:bleh:

Kidding

I'm just excited for the RED team and there products.
Ive just ordered 2 more RED ONE cameras, They are so good and proving them selves to be true work horses that I'm in no rush for the EPIC at all.
For Shows like ER.... these things are over kill!
Work flow:biggrin: I didn't know that there was a problem. I'm doing things 2x quicker than I ever did on film or even tape for that mater.

Go RED go!!!

Rock On Red!

Good going there Brook and kudos to RED.

We are finalizing a deal to shoot 13 episodes for 2nd season of HBO's TV series from April (4x Red One) and we have a major (A-grade) US film director shooting as we speak with Red One here in Mexico City for a unrelated project. Top secret as of now - more to come soon...

:) Peter
