  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

It seems that some have been able to make it work... don't know their circumstances on how, but with my own personal experience only two weeks ago with my friends newly delivered M, the old EVF did not work... only red flashes. We've never had an official Red explanation one way or the other. With the X being so close to delivery a heads up would be appreciated.

Any sense for when Stage 2 folks will learn their Epic-X serial numbers / place in line? Can't wait to start shooting!

Don't call us we will call you :) heh heh heh.

Brent will be sending the first batch of emails out a few days before shipping. Remember it (roughly) goes by delivery date of your R1 and not necessarily in order of your R1 serial number, and your EPIC-X serial number will not match your R1 serial number.

Great question. Also...

Does the EPIC-X line have it's own set of serial #s?

Is there any reason why those numbers couldn't correspond with current owned R1 numbers?

absolutely... we will also be selling just Brain+Mount Epic-M's beginning next week outside the normal M package.

Well, Jim did say a few at first, then more- right?

Geez, if stage 3 is done before sept 14th I may have a helluva birthday present with which to shoot "Unlaced". Assuming you're right on the 5 mins/epic and so forth...

Just a quick question then... Do you still have to send the Epic-M to RED if you were to buy one now because of the modifications of the Epic-X?

We need to focus on EPIC-X right now. EPIC-M customers will start getting the liposuction emails soon after things calm down a bit :)

We will most likely still be stage 2 on your birthday Per. Remember.. after assembly ( not 5 minutes btw... not sure where that came from. ) There is days worth of testing and QA for each camera... we don't just bolt the pieces together and then throw it in a box and hope it turns on when you get it :)

That and of course the fact that all the parts for everyone in the world's cameras don't show up in one day.. vendors send parts in batches as they make them.. which is why EPIC-X cameras will be sent out in batches.

But don't worry.. I am not trying to scare you.. there will be a nice steady pace of cameras being popped out of the oven.. our manufacturing facility and the people running it are incredibly strong.
 
Cheers! Hoping stage 2 members get theirs quickly, so that by Oct, stage 3rs are starting out.
