The R3D is 60sec long, I just use 4 seconds from 10th second and speed up by 200%, the duration is 2 seconds. After rendering and back to FCP, I get 2sec shot in timeline with correct in point and incorrect speed (100%). Playing the rendered QT file, it starts from the in point I set in FCP, but the duration is 60 seconds, not 4 seconds, the last 10 seconds is just a looping of last few frames.

Edit in FCP, Export XML, replace the offline ProRes with _H files in clipfinder, import into Color, no handles.

Anyone has the same problem?

Thanks in advance.

It's a known issue with Color - it will not handle speed changed clips correctly.

The "standard" fix for it is to render the clip out to burn in the speed change and then re-import it and replace the clip(s) in question with the speed altered clips before sending to Color...

Now, the problem there is, you can't do that with Red footage, as you can't render out a new R3D file at 200% speed. Maybe try placing the clip(s) in question on a seperate timeline, at 100% speed but twice as long (so the whole section of the clip you're using is on the line at 100% speed), then send this to Color and then once back in FCP perform the speed alterations and then drop them back into the main timeline over the incorrect 100% clips?

Don't know if that will work, but it might... Short answer is, known issue, you'll need to find a work-around...

HTH,
Dom.

An update:

Looks like FCS3 (or more precisely, Color 1.5) will now handle speed changes without a work-around, judging from the blurb on Apple's site. Just released today...

Cheers,
Dom.
