  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC-X STAGE 3 and 3.5 Now Begins...

Sorry to say that brother, but you will not even have your camera shipped in january. because if we move with the speed we moved so far, you will wait much longer.

I know that red said many times that they get much faster over time, nice idea, but i never saw this happen.

No harm done. :) I'm prepared to wait. I know that I'm getting something special and unique when it arrives. As long as my health and my brain allows it, the moment I have the camera in my hands is when things will start to change around here :) I can wait :)

you should contact your bomb squad right away about stage 3. I guess deadline was dec. 1
- For what could understand there is no different if your RED is M or MX... the value is always $ 17'500.- (if your RED is fully working)
- You should buy SSD media and RED station to start work with the Epic-X stage 3 package. Then you can always buy more accessories if you need.
- In this deal RED trade only bodies not accessories.
 
I'd love to know this too. Three e-mails to my bomb squad rep in the last three weeks with no reply. I'm waiting patiently because I know they must be swamped - but a little update on Stage 3 would be nice.

Only as a trade-in for a 256 GB SSD, or so I was told. Half price of the Red Drive discount.
 
Anyone receive stage 3 yet? I know it's a broken fkn record but doesn't really seem like stage 3 will land this year. Not to mention Scarlets are poppen everywhere! Makes me rethink if I made a good choice...

The key here is to be patient. I'm sure Epic owners will get the best surprises in the near future concerning updates. I'm waiting for stage 4, I must have much more to wait than you, have wired my money to Red already but am not at all worried. The Epic shot videos and films are a testament of it being the camera to get for the budget. Its hard to wait, but it will be well worth it!
 
I think it's very very bad rule: how can they value the SAME price for a M and a MX?!?!?!?!..... Many months ago I spent about $5K for upgrading the sensor. And now it hase the same value of the M?????????????????
And all the R1 accessories? I have to try selling to some R1 owner... but it would have been great if RED has accepted all their stuff for trade-in...
 
Stage 3 will not ship till Stage 2 deliveries have finished, at least that's what I understand from previous posts.

I don't think anyone that has executed Stage 3 and paid deposit has been notified to return their cameras for evaluation, or we'd have heard about it here probably.

When you get your EPIC it will have been worth the wait. Relax and chill...it will come...

Riiiiiggggghhhhhhht. It sure would have been. Like they do elsewhere....oh wait, that doesn't happen. Ever.

It would have been even better if Red shipped me an Epic M for free. Just, you know, 'cause.

Jarred, could you put an extra Epic in your carry-on if you're coming back to visit family? It'll be easy. I'm in B.C., super close to Alberta.
Just give me a shout when you're gonna pop by and I'll be sure to be home. I've got a bunch of R1 stuff to give you for gas money.
Feel free to be generous with accessories too!

It's not really about value, IMO. It's about appreciation to customers who originally bought the R-1 based on a promise. The MX upgrade was a stop-gap measure for the interval between R-1 and Epic. It was optional. Anyone who upgraded did so because it was a business decision.

And, if you feel you are losing out because your camera is MX and because you will be "stuck" with all the R-1 accessories, you have the option to keep what you have and not buy the Epic.

I'm just saying you have choices.

some stage 2 are waiting he's saying that stage 3 wont start until all stage to are notified not when they get their camera. My friend is stage 2 and he's been able to get his camera for months but he want to wait till next year. So jarred is saying that until stage 2 is notified not delivered

I hope tha you are right. If stage 2 folks wait for months to take delivery and pay for their cameras I would hope that stage 3 paid for cameras wouldn't have to wait. I thought you had 30 days to pay for and take delivery once notified.
 
It looks like the "Stage" programs are going to tie up Epic-X availability through the end of the year. Will there be a way for people who don't own a Red One to get a pre-order in before the price changes take effect, or do we have to choose between the Scarlet, the Epic-M or waiting for the Epic-X under the new price structure?
