I think my post isn't wrong... there's a big difference between a M and a MX body. And towards owners that upgraded their sensor is wrong to value their camera the same price of a 4 years old Mysterium body... I do think RED is a company that (like ALL companies in the world) looks at profit). And it's normal! So, if they give us the chance to trade-in our "old" R1 means they have interest in having back all those bodies.
John, it's not a "inch & ell" problem...
So, I can accept they don't want the accessories (it could be very complicated to test all that stuff), but I can't accept the same value for the two sensor.
Michele, your compatriots are rioting in the streets over things they can't accept. I suppose it's infectious. Why don't you draw up a business plan and post it here for all to see, show us in Black and White why RED should do as you request. Why don't you just keep your R1 if you don't, "like the terms of the deal". You got a gift, you want more.I think my post isn't wrong...

RED is taking these trade-ins just to honour their motto that "obsolescence is obsolete" .... they upgraded your R1 to MX, there is no reason for you to trade it in. Go outside and shoot a movie about entitlements.if they give us the chance to trade-in our "old" R1 means they have interest in having back all those bodies.

Okay one more time: What RED has done is this:
You bought a Toyota Tercel for $20,000 5 years ago. You have put 100,000 miles on it. Now you want a Lexus for $60,000 and the dealer is going to give you $20,000 trade in on your Tercel. Maybe you added fancy rims and tires. Okay Toyota isn't going to add that to your full trade in.
No company ever has done something like this. Not Toyota, not Arri, not Sony, not even Apple.
So Michele, if you don't see this clearly please PM me and I will gladly take the time to explain it.

You are 100% wrong when you say .... RED is taking these trade-ins just to honour their motto that "obsolescence is obsolete" .... they upgraded your R1 to MX, there is no reason for you to trade it in. Go outside and shoot a movie about entitlements.
I think the consensus thinking is that George is right. Red may have figured out a use for the cameras since they made the original offer, but when the offer was made it was pretty clear that it was being done to compensate for the R-1 no longer being a product that wouldn't become obsolete due to Red's decision to go modular... i.e., Epic. You're speculating, and sounding off like you know. I highly doubt that Jim and company are collecting thousands of R1 bodies to build a giant metal sculpture........
