  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC-X begins...

"only" 3000.- for basically the same camera. I guess the M Program will end as soon as Epic X is available in quantity.

Do I remember right that the EPIC-X brain is 36,500$ after january 1st? So if bought next year, one would only save 3,000$ compared to EPIC-M.

Yes, that is correct, but Jim and Jarred, in different posts, said one could still order Epic X old pricing cams this year outside of the current Red Owner stages.

What I mean by that is 3000$ is nothing when you count all the costs involved if you can the EPIC now. You can wait that EPIC goes to RED store and save 3000$, but that can take another 6 months or even more, or less. We don't know.

+ 1 extra years warranty. Quite useful and probably sensible for a camera which is still having its kinks ironed out......

It was also mentioned that some of the RED accessories for the Epic will also increase in price after Dec 31st. If you order them now, you reserve them at the current price.

No promises yet.

Christ... Jarred, I don't want to look mean, but hasn't it been officially announced from the very start that the old evf would be epic compatible ? I remember that the old hard drive was initially announced to be compatible as well... however understandable the "non spinning thing" move was, whatever fair deal was handed out by Red on that matter, it still makes a difference to small budgets. I know, everything changes... Compatibility with red one accessories was a serious issue for some of us, I guess !

RED - his is a no-brainer. The original EVF is a great piece of hardware. A bit large but still great. RED needs to support the early adopters who helped get them where they are. We invested in the RED ONE. We invested in the EPIC. Now all we want is a little customer service.

I understand but I don't agree. Better to keep evolving, especially with the hard drive. Sure, 640 gb was great but you got drop frames just breathing at that monster...

Well no. After maybe 300 hours of footage we have seen 6 dropped frames in total.
