  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC-X begins...

thanks Ketch for you response ;) and what about the REDBRICK or Vlock batteries, there is some restriction about this kind of piece .. no? I beleive you have the right of 100w bat maximun, can you confirm ? and a last question ... i order a canon red mount, so i have ZF zeiss serie (nikon mount) i would like to use with the canon red mount with adapater (nikon to canon), i do this with my canon 5DII and it's work well, but can you confirm that is working with the canon red mount (because of the positive lock system) ... you see what i mean ? THANKS ;)

Epic-X #135 has touched down here in Tokyo, Japan, and is ready to do battle in the lion's den!

Epic-x shipping update

Epic-x shipping update

Could Red update the status of shipping Epic-X serial no. Heard few weeks before that they are shipping 30 epics a day but still to find any email for shipping details for serial not 459.

Pretty unlikely Red will comment on shipping status. This is the informal list we've been following, but since we have no way of knowing when each camera was invoiced/shipped, it's a very loose guide. Rather than serial number, you need to watch the dates people received their Red One. They are up to about March 2008 at the moment, and we're seeing serial numbers as high as 1300.

Paul,
What, if anything, special did you do to warrant such quick shipping?
I have Red One #344, which shipped January 2008.
I replied to my Epic-X email within one hour of receiving it on September 14th.
I had accessories and credit card info to my rep by the end of the day (I was working) and all the specific credit card authorization details to them by 9/15.
Yesterday I was looking for an update and my rep told me that they were quite busy, and there was "processing time". There was no other detailed info.
I know it's not like going to Dunkin Donuts and choosing 2 glazed and three plain, but sheesh... 12 days after getting my order and credit card info...
Cheers,
Harry

Hi Harry,

given your Red One shipping date and order info, here's where I differed - I had prepaid around $15,000 to Red as soon as they announced the start of the Epic-X program. I then ordered some additional parts and paid via credit card (same one I used on prior orders, don't know if that made any difference). Then I waited for my camera to get allocated and let my bomb squad rep know the money was already there. It's just my speculation but I think the disparity in shipping is down to the prepaid part.

Hope that helps a bit. Fingers crossed you get yours soon!

Cheers from Tokyo,

Paul :)

Congrats Paul!

Red should have received my Cashiers Check yesterday or today.

So I have the required amount plus $4-$5K extra in my account for the nano-second my camera gets out of the oven!! Of course I certainly hope I can come into the Studio and pick it up in person. A drive to LA from Sacramento is certainly worthwhile for such an Epic moment (sorry, I am allowed a pun a week, and I had to use it here :)

Got X #125 last Friday, Sept. 23rd. Yay! R1 was #354 shipped end of Jan. 2008.

Even though I've had an EPIC-M for about 4 months now, I'm way more excited about the Stage-2 EPIC-X. I think it's just all the buzz around them actually shipping and the whole waiting and wondering when mine will come up. Should be pretty soon.... I hope.

agreed Jeff. I got my payment in last week. Order is with shipping dept. Just waiting on FED EX notice! Been scoring acks galore.

and the best part is its booked all of Nov Dec and Jan - so Ill have a little time in Oct to play

Got my Epic X #126 last week. Took it out for a spin up at Bear Mtn over the weekend. Can't wait for my Canon mount to get here.

Hey Andrew,

Not to spin this off topic... but..

Was that a rail jam you were shooting? Any chance you'll be uploading footage of that onto Vimeo?

Fed Ex dropped off my new baby this afternoon. As all Stage 2 owners will attest, there is nothing like opening the lid for the first time on these cameras. It is so easy to be a fan of RED when you see the passion right in front of you.

Love this post...

...
The Backpack is a Lowe-Pro Tracker II, they don't make it any more, its the one with the 17" Lap top receptacle, the other ,and several others I have are Think Thank, most of them Airpot International V2 models, great bags.

The Lowe-Pro Computrekker Plus AW from the looks and sounds of it is pretty much the same as the Tracker II I believe. Very comfortable backpack for extended hiking. Also have the Think Tank Airport Addicted v2.0 which holds a huge amount very well, but doesn't have wheels (adds weight and reduces capacity), and strap system is only good for short distances.

Correct Eric... ;)
