We shooted some clips for a documentary with our Epic-W.
Used for the first time only 2K ProRes 4444 while shooting in 8K FF.
IPP2

Everything came out full of moire and aliasing like the Prores was recording also the "peaking"...
Btw every shot was unusable... is this normal???

Please someone can check the file and give a little help? thank you guys

There's definitely something funky going on with your camera or firmware. I shoot in 2k & 4k prores all the time and have never experienced this. I would submit a ticket. Also, what's your firmware version? Others here may be experiencing similar issues and can help.

I'd echo the submit a ticket. I thought first it looks like you had sharpening on, but there's something crazier going on there.

Yes Firmware is the latest. 7.0.0

Make your test before a shoot. Do a roundtrip when you use a new workflow.
Strange file.

I think the prores is actually just a recording from monitoring feed just like when using external SDI or HDMI recorder such as the Atomos, not from a dedicated encoding engine.. thus why the monitoring sharpness is burned in.

Alright, I've done some testing and I might be onto something with v7.0.0.

Here's a drive link with 5 clips shot in 2K ProRes 4444 (as well as a log for any of you RED devs).

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_l7sR0CCsLdaTR0RUNyN0VqWDQ

Clips are shot in this order:
- Output sharpness 0%
- Output sharpness 100%
- Output sharpness 100%, AFTER going into playback mode and then back to record mode
- Output sharpness 0%, without switching to playback for the 2nd time
- Output sharpness 100%, without switching to playback for the 2nd time

So it appears that the output sharpness setting is not applying until after the monitor has refreshed. It also doesn't necessarily have to be playback mode that causes the screen to redraw and apply the setting. Something like switching to another codec and back will cause the screen to go black and then redraw the image with the correct Output Sharpness setting applied.

Because of this, it's possible to turn output sharpness on, go to playback mode (or anything that refreshes the screen), come back, and then turn output sharpness off, but still be recording output sharpness to the file. This is a huge issue.

This has been passed along to RED sustaining engineering team and they are already working on it.
