Will the Epic S Delivery be on a first come first serve? Or previous Red camera owner will have a priority ?
I have been a member for few years and never posted (just went to the process to change to my real name Pier Laurenza)
I have just been waiting quietly for the Scarlet S35 to come to life This question might have been answered somewhere but couldn’t find it

Everything I have read has led me to believe that current customers will have priority, followed by new customers on a first come first served basis.

Hi Pier,

We'll know with the final EPIC-S update. That will be the next one.

I don't think it will make much difference. I think it will be like any other "new issue device", a month or two after the assembly line starts the orders will probably be filled on a weekly basis. Better start writing that script! Look at the delivery progress for the Panasonic AF-100 the Epic-S will probably be similar.

i know epic-x and epic- light, but what is epic-s ? anyone?

thanks cüneyt so s means small right?

yes, what is known for now is that epic s cant do slo mo and doesnt have some of the compression ratios. HDRx™ is included though.
hope this helps.

the body size is the same, but smaller in her features kind of
(internally there will be different boards, so its no crippling or so, its just to get 5k @100 fps you need more power under the hood)

Maybe I've missed it but I haven't seen anything that suggests that.

In fact IMHO, it doesn't make sense for red to do that. Existing customers are taken care of by epic-x deal. Red needs to expand its user base both to compete with Sony and to minimize any "us vs. Them" sentiment that may exist, some of which is likely due (whether those people admit it or not) to the fact that they can't get one! :-)

Well originally, the Epic-S was the Scarlett S35, were those with a Red One that was not Executed for stage II, could either
enter stage III or possibly Epic FF, or instead just keep the Re One and get a 12% Discount form the Purchase of the Scarlett,
off course while also having the Right of First order in the same Delivery Dates of their Red Ones Fashion as for the
Reservation orders of stage II.

Now been the Scarlett S35, re-named and changed to a higher level of camera, the Epic-S, we don't know if RED will
continue to offer the same privileges mentioned when it was EX. Scarlett S35.

Other then that every one else will be on a First Come first Serve basis for sure IMO.

Epic-S can't do slo mo? Where did you hear that? I don't think that's true.

No one knows for sure yet, but I think initial thoughts from Red team were that Epic-S WON'T have framerates at 5k that go as high as the Epic-X (like 16:9 --> 96fps) ....

Can't remember if they said Epic-S 5k would be capped at 30fps, or something else -- maybe Ketch can chime in. Also, it will probably still have higher framerates at lower resolutions ... so I'm guessing you can still shoot higher fps at 2k, 3k or even 4k -- and then finish your slo mo clips in the same (or similar) resolution as the rest ... yada, yada, yada ...

Anyway, until Red publishes official specs it's all a guess -- even on their part :)

In general look for Epic-S as having half the data and frame
rates of the Epic-X. Also if Epic-S will do HDRx at 30fps...then it should
be able to handle the data to do 60 fps slo mo. Read the below posts..

...Since there are two exposures, the camera is
recording double the amount of frames. For example, if you are shooting 24fps,
the camera is recording 2-24fps tracks, the data equivalent of 48 fps

3. Frame rates and data rates in combination with project sizes will be the primary compromises in comparison with the big brothers (EPIC-X and EPIC-M). You can anticipate about 1/2 the overall data throughput. As soon as the engineers finalize the list... I will post it.....Jim
