  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I have seen the future of RED GLASS....

what's so special about the cinevate ones?

I expect nothing, although they're cheaper than most the UK suppliers, but to help anybody else make a more useful comment :) I'll rephrase my question..

"Anyone tried the new Zeiss ZFs on a Red?.. or anything else.." :detective2:

That's when they know for sure they will ship. Often some product is available earlier. For instance we sold a few Panasonic BT-LH2550 and BT-LH1710 monitors weeks before we ever thought we'd get them in hand.

...Or they could be later than expected. Sorry, devil's advocate.

Anyway, the IBE lenses are very intriguing. Their c-mount primes look to have great potential for 2/3" Scarlet, too.

That little window for the gears on the IBE lenses kind of limits the mounting options for motors....I wish people would get design input from people who use things before they design them. I'm Just saying.....

I was thinking the same thing, but at this point I'm not putting too much stock into the render. I guess I'm of the opinion that they don't exist until we see physical product or prototypes.

As RED has shown us with their 18-85 and new 300mm Pro lenses, the fundamentals of lens design are very difficult to grasp. Including obvious features like ways to attach supports, handles and mounting brackets. After all, why would people actually need that stuff? :whistling:

...I'll see what shakes loose at NAB. But I'm seeing a set of Ultra Primes in my crystal ball and they seem to be getting clearer every day.

We expect to have some glass available for sale at NAB. If not for delivery right away then within weeks after the show.

And who says the RED One's Super-35 sized sensor is the only one you'll see glass for...

Mitch, i can't make NAB, is there any way some of us guys in the UK could order glass while NAB is on? Or before?

Feel free to reach out to our Sales Reps. at any time. Lord knows the moment I post here dozens of you do. But they won't know anything or be able to do anything until the show starts.

But understand that they have no idea what I am talking about right now with these soon-to-be-released products, because officially they do not yet exist as products we can quote and sell. They come to me and say, "this guy said you said this on REDuser" which is often pretty funny because it mostly has nothing to do with what I actually posted. Sample event:

Me on REDuser: "Hey guys, I'll tell you about something soon."
Private email 2 minutes later: "So Mitch, what's the scoop?"
Post teo down from mine on Reduser 10 minutes later: "So Mitch, that means you have them in stock and are selling them for $1 each?"
Abel Sales Rep. 20 minutes later: "Mitch, this guy called saying you put together some RED special with four of these free."

And so it goes. My favorite is a toss up between the guys who camped outside our LA office overnight to be the first to see a mattebox (dude, it's a mattebox) and the guy who showed up unannounced one day with 12 cases of gear and plans to buy another $200,000 or so of toys and asked if I wouldn't mind giving him a few minutes to "look it over" since he had absolutely no idea what any of it was or how it worked but was starting a feature in two weeks.

Some new lenses are debuting at NAB. You can see them in person at the show. Once they debut you will be able to order them at anytime from anywhere. Knock yourselves out; you kids are more fun than a barrel of monkeys and I gotta say I love it.

hmm..but not as good looking as the RED lens!

Boy that's a pretty render. To bad it's just that a render.

Now if there was only a place I could go where I could touch such a lens and look through it ... And maybe some other lenses as well...

See you in April!

It's a render though, so until we actually see a lens, we cannot know. There are hard focus marks in the render though!

Matthew

I have send them a mail, see what happens!!
