HAHAHA... that was funny Tony

I didn't order anything so I don't care about the wait.

The question I have is that is the canon lens info being read by the camera and is the Impero controlling the lens through the birger with the internal lens motor? Is there an Inclino adjusting the focus, or is it being adjusted internally? This is all new to me. I'm pretty blown away by the whole thing.

There is no external motor controlling the lens. It's all internal and I'm assuming the Birger mount is the one reporting lens data to the camera directly from the lens. Yes - it is pretty cool... And I think people should appreciate this as an added bonus and Curts way of reaching out to all those of us that have been waiting almost a year for this product. The Impero is a much better product than what I ordered back in March 08.

Has the Birger mount not been released yet? I think this is huge. Now it's actually viable to use still lenses in a cinema setting. I'm not sure how precise it is but it looks promising.

It is finally shipping. It is huge. That's why there is over 5200 posts in the Birger thread and why those of us in it from the beginning have put up with delay after delay since 2007 and hung in there.

It really is a game changer and the Viewfactor/Birger/Red combo will, I think, be the only way to go for those of us on a budget and even beyond.

The precision looks to be rock solid. The only issue may be breathing of individual lenses but many are looking quite good.

Sounds very promising. I wonder how many reservations there are for the Birger.

Just got off the phone with our bluetooth guys.. The modules will ship from San Jose tomorrow and they will be in our hands Friday.

Thanks for the update Curt !

I hope all is alright with John and all his/your family.

Its actually Josh that was at the emergency care with his Wife...

Exciting! Do these include some bound for Birger customers?
Yes. We have surplus over the VFS customers to cover initial shipments of Birger orders. There is going to be a mass exodus of products shortly - I'm mulling through code while waiting for modules to get assembled on their boards. I wish there were more hours in the day.

And i reckon you would be pretty happy to get em out and shut a lot of these people up....

Great!

What is your guess on when some units going out? How many?

Yes. We have surplus over the VFS customers to cover initial shipments of Birger orders.

Based on what I've seen, once the "unboxing" and Holy $%@! videos hit, and everyone knows it is the real deal and it is shipping--you guys are going to be flooded.

Might as well re-order everything already as the orders are going to fly in.

Can West Coast Birger customers get them directly from you? Why make the double coast-to-coast trip if some of us are a few miles from you? :)

Have we seen this working with a receiver and motor? Wireless? I recall a couple of videos with the Birger, which has its own Bluetooth receiver and the motor is built into the lens. And I've personally seen the prototype working wired directly to a motor. But I don't recall a wireless to a receiver box to a motor.

Come to think of it, I don't recall seeing a receiver box ever, not even in the picture of the "complete kit" in that case, ready to ship. Am I missing something here? I could be completely daft, but I just don't recall seeing these parts of the puzzle.

In the photo of the kit the reciever is under the Impero. The receiver is free unless someone get the bright idea to lose one ;)

I'm not one to add gaz on the fire, but the VF website has no mention besides an outdated "backordered until november 26th", and Redmodz lists a factory parts qty shipping to VF calendar... Anyone knows what is the "expected" date of delivery for a R1 kit ordered today? There's over a thousand posts here (congrats to VF's success) but I can't still figure it out, and like Leo's wise words, I don't want to freeze my money too long...
