I don't think the issue is really about them talking about products that will be released at one point. It's not even about taking a very small deposit. It's about taking the full $$$ amount, saying it will be shipping 2 months later and now 10 months later it's still not shipping--all while have little communication. I totally understand that they've been royally screwed by suppliers and specs on parts not being up to spec, but that's also why the full deposit business model isn't really used much.

For me, it really is just about the communication. Instead of waiting until 7 days after a "shipping" date to tell us there are huge issues, why not hop on and say, "shipping's delay due to issue. More to follow." That shows me that you care enough about your customer to keep them informed.

So Jay,

Numerous statements that they will ship product in only a few days, then . . .
nothing?

I'm not eager to use the word "liar." It doesn't help. But to refute your statement, we have been lied to, on numerous occasions. There, I said it. Do I hate them? No. I realize they are working hard and still have hope they are sincere. A lot of us out here have been quite frustrated with the timeframe, and for good cause. Your statements that "it is what it is," only scrape on an already festering sore.

This is not acceptable behavior on the part of the vendor.

I think, except for Kwan, you should be careful speaking for others..The "us" you speak of are more than able to express themselves as they need too.

Just cancel your order Dude.. It's that simple. But if I were Curt, and you came within a million miles of calling me a liar, you'd find a refund on your credit card statement, and a "go away and don't come back" in your email.

But that's just me and I can be a hot-head. As for Kwan, he's just trying to cause shit for the sake of it, so I don't pay much attention.

These are good points, and I think a lot of the people working on these things agree with you, and changes have been made moving forward.

Aside from that, I think we're on the tail-end of this.

The stuff works. It needs to be put together and shipped.

Jay

To paraphrase Mark Twain, "There are three kinds of lies; lies, damned lies, and shipping dates."

Let's be objective; promises from View Factor have not been kept. Were these promises "lies?" I personally think it's a "lie" when the teller knows it's false. Is it a lie when the teller suspects it could be false? Welcome to a grey area.

I don't think View Factor "lied" to me when they took my money in full at NAB and then failed to deliver as promised, but the result was the same. I had neither the product nor the opportunity use of my money during the months that followed. I'm not happy about this and this entire saga has not enhanced my view of View Factor as a company.

More germane might be to ask what is the result of the serial failures to meet promised shipping dates. If View Factor delivers a product clearly superior at a price dramatically lower, the reputation for over-optimism may be forgotten. Assuming of course that their after sales service does not suffer the same kind of unhappy performance.

Good shooting and best regards,

Leo

The Chinese new year messed with the schedule on our suppliers side so they are behind a bit. We are expecting units on Wed. It takes a couple days to get 400 modules soldered to the boards we had made for the transceivers. Before you start stringing us up again.... Josh had to deal with troubles at home last night and was not able to get a video together. Jay will post something nice this afternoon.

I mean this "chinese new year messed" unit... :)

we're having a revolution just for the sake of it (lol) and Bordom with out it.

Kwan, if you're just having fun that's cool.. But it would seem like english is not your first language (that or you type as bad as I do).. So it's hard to tell you are joking sometimes.

Try throwing in some: :w00t: or even a  to let people know you are kidding!

Jay

hahaaa
I forgot my English language !!! I must learn English as quick as possible...:help: My language is not about designing words (lol) :bleh: :bleh:

There have been no lies here. Let's face it the guys have never done anything like this before and therefor over estimated their possibilities.

From the things I've heard it's the simple fact that every time when they just thought they could ship, a new "issue" turned up and were talking issues that is impossible to predict and that needs to be fixed.

There's a reason why gear like this cost a "fortune" and that's what our delivery time is proving.

I never expected that they would deliver during their first announced dates, but hey after 15 years in this business I'm a realist. Then I know that there's substantial beta testing needed to be done, before a product goes out and that there's numerous issues that follows that.

So I guess what I'm saying is that my guess is that it's the more experienced in this business that are the ones who sit back and are more relaxed about this whole thing. So for all you "young" guns I say welcome, this is not going to be the last time this happens to you.

For you that were foolish enough believing that this would be the only FF unit for you, I sympathize but also feel that you were completely foolish in thinking so (no disrespect meant). I've said it before, we should be glad that someone takes the hit of doing such a low cost accessories for us to enjoy (when it's available).

Just cancel your order Dude.. It's that simple.

It's actually NOT that simple. Why would someone cancel an order and go to the back of the line or spend more money when they keep getting told one or two more weeks by someone who appears to be trustworthy?

I have a feeling that if Curt made an announcement back in June that the units wouldn't be shipping until March after all, then he WOULD have had many canceled orders.

Personally I don't care about the overall delay much, my pet peeve is when they set a date for an update or shipping and then we have silence on that date instead of taking five minutes to post something. That's my only complaint and I'm sure they're learning from this experience as much as we are.

Have 15 years in the biz also. Which is long enough to have learned if I don't at least contact a client on a day that I say I'll have something done, they won't be back.

Of course, the analog in this case is taking five minutes to post.

I think maybe its time to just cool down people.
A lot has been said, and some words are very unacceptable .
maybe it has not been handled the best way from the VF side, but bad things happen, and they usually come all at the same time.
now that everything is sorted out and delivery is close, even with a much better product and with the benefit of at least 500 dollars for the early buyers towards the new buyers to a set of inclino impero maybe we could just be patient for a fraction of the time you ve already been and Iam sure after you have this toy in your hands you wont feel bitter anymore.it will be history.
Constantine.

I think we're all going in circles at this point.. I for one am going to stop now.. The points have been made, and yet, here we are, right where we started.

Time to focus on other things, it will get here when it gets here.

Jay

Guys let's stop it before you killed each other. The software code is done and waiting for bluetooth now. Jay showed us the video and basically it's a finish product, no more little things here and there. So it's a matter of time now. Curt has explain himself why they're late on the delivery dates, i'm seeing something weird, where people complaints keep coming back from where it started where it has been cleared. Up to this point, there's no need to complain anymore. So close.

Altho after this, if there's anything coming up again, i dont know. But i believe there wont be anything else this time. I just hope the bluetooth receieve is exactly the same like what Curt is hoping for. Else if it's wrong, then he needs to send it back again. The positive thing is we know Curt is taking care of the quality.

Regards

I'm twice as far from being a "young gun" than you are and I've never had a company carry on the "Charlie Brown, Lucy, and the football" routine like View Factor has.

Furthermore, I can say with some certainty that this is not only the first, but also the last, time I will pay full price in advance for something not yet shipping.

I would love to see View Factor succeed; I hope their product proves to be both high value and reliable with excellent after sales support.

That said, I don't see how anyone can truthfully say that this is the proper way to run a railroad.

Best regards,

Leo

May we all be in peace :calm: .... NOW WE NEED TEQUILA AND SALT INSTEAD OF INCLINO AND IMERIO:angry03:

Of course in this particular matter. View Factor is at fault on this. I dont think anyone could deny that. And which is why lots of people disappointed...

But things happened. Take delivery or not. If you decide, you wait, if you dont, you drop. Grey area is where you keep bitching and keep waiting.... I think all of us just want to have proper schedule and hope VF to fulfill it. Amen to that...nothing less nothing more

... poor Curt :umm:
