  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC... ready.

Hello Houston...the Eagle has landed.....an amazing job and belief guys, you all rock.

Wont be a Epic user for a couple years, but now know that Scarlet will be arriving sooner than later.

A great day, once again congrats.

Congratulations RED team!
This red great step is too for Independent or low-cost filmmakers, who are now a step closer to shoot as PRO as industry's hardcore! so thanks btw ;)

All this week Jarred, Deanan and I were testing EPIC until 4am EVERY night at the RED Studios. And we weren't alone. We had our ace, crack, number one firmware god with us updating and fixing issues we were finding during our testing. It really was unreal. It is something I will never forget. It was all about getting it done and getting it right. Every piece of us was invested in the process. I had to wonder how many of our competitors were up? How many cared as much as we did... how many really were as dedicated to ushering in the future as we were.

We love what we are doing... truly.

Jim

I'd love to learn a lot more about your test procedures.

Any chance you can share? If its a manpower thing I'd love to come out to RED studios and do an article.

Many of you have heard Jim say that we have learned just enough to be dangerous.. those words have never been so true.

Look out.

Unbelievably, that almost sounds like you`re just getting into your stride!..

Congratulations indeed Jim,Jarred,Deanan,Graeme and all the Red team.
What a phenominal achievement.

Great to see that RED's dreams are finally coming true about EPIC. You'll make a lot of ppl here happy soon.

Wohoo. The Best post for over a Year. The warm fuzzy Red Feeling is back again. It actualy never left but this is changing everything.
Congrats Red Team very well done.

Now get some sleep.

Tim.

We have been up so many days in a row until 4am that it is hard to go to sleep at a reasonable hour now... and too excited.

Jim

Certain companies are now *really* shaking in their pants..

Funny!

I guess it's all down hill from here.

Do you guys still think you can ship in large quantities by the end of the year?

I have said this before... if this was easy, the other guys would have already done it.

EPIC is a nuclear generator in a matchbox. It is the single most difficult project I have ever seen, worked on or imagined. Think about it just for a minute... what else does 5K at 120fps, variable RAW (REDCODE) and records to an SSD with ramping, HDR (with magic motion), a full 1080P or 2K direct output via HDSDI, wireless control, modular, FLUT, non-destructive LUTs, and a hundred other features in the body the size of a Hasselblad? What else does any of this? It is no wonder we are late. It is a miracle we actually did it. Truly a miracle.

Jim

Dear Jim,

Is the Arri Alexa one of the reasons for Epic being so late on production. Improving the features so that it can overcome Alexa's performance.

Jim,

This is such a big news! I personally didn't expect this to come
so soon.

Please order enough parts, so I can buy my EPIC #10,000 fairly soon :-)

We have been up so many days in a row until 4am that it is hard to go to sleep at a reasonable hour now... and too excited.

Jim

I wish we could experience the same thing. Man, we're already excited and loosing sleep just from your posts ;)

Jim, I tip my hat! Chapeau! to you and the RED army. I'm looking forward to my sleepless nights for seeing what you're seeing right now. Thanks for doing what hundreds or thousands of us were only dreaming of. Thanks for making obsolescence obsolete. Thank you so much for starting the long needed revolution.

Oh how I envy Mark and all these lucky tattoo handlers who will get their hands on these babies soon. ... Did I mention I can't wait? :)

Jim - what's the thing you're most proud of with this camera? You've mentioned the team, the specs, the size... is there something that stands out as an achievement for you personally?
