  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC... ready.

Awesome news. As a side note, anyone in the market for used gear get ready for a landslide as everyone tries to get their funds in order for the Epic. Like the real estate market.
So stoked.

You're an epic company RED!!!!

Thanks for sharing with your fans/customers!

If we ever earn respect in the industry for this work, many are responsible. There are many whose names people will never be heard. Many who have joined the fight because the challenge was worthy. My hat is off to the RED Army... every one.

Jim

I was keeping this one in my artillery box.
Time to open the bottle that I kept for this occasion.

Cheers to the RED Team!

BTW It goes best straight with beluga caviar on toast.

I have said this before... if this was easy, the other guys would have already done it.

EPIC is a nuclear generator in a matchbox. It is the single most difficult project I have ever seen, worked on or imagined. Think about it just for a minute... what else does 5K at 120fps, variable RAW (REDCODE) and records to an SSD with ramping, HDR (with magic motion), a full 1080P or 2K direct output via HDSDI, wireless control, modular, FLUT, non-destructive LUTs, and a hundred other features in the body the size of a Hasselblad? What else does any of this? It is no wonder we are late. It is a miracle we actually did it. Truly a miracle.

Jim

Once I began to understand how much you promised when you announced this camera, I thought of the scene from "Cool Hand Luke" right after Paul Newman made the statement that he could eat some ungodly amount of hard boiled eggs. George Kennedy asked him after the betting started, something like "Why'd you have to say so many? They would have bet against you eating half that many." And just like Cool Hand Luke, it looks like you are gonna win your bet.

All this week Jarred, Deanan and I were testing EPIC until 4am EVERY night at the RED Studios. And we weren't alone. We had our ace, crack, number one firmware god with us updating and fixing issues we were finding during our testing. It really was unreal. It is something I will never forget. It was all about getting it done and getting it right. Every piece of us was invested in the process. I had to wonder how many of our competitors were up? How many cared as much as we did... how many really were as dedicated to ushering in the future as we were.

We love what we are doing... truly.

Jim

mmm.. we could of used that. Sleep was such a nuisance for us this last week.

I gotta admit though.. it was so exciting we didn't even get tired. If it wasnt for a daily morning meetings we needed to be awake for everyday, we likely would of blew way past 4am every night until we fell over.
I feel on the one hand, disappointed... in myself. And on the other hand, I feel privileged.

Dissappointed because my only contribution to this is to raise the money for this camera and then wait while you guys are working so hard to supply me (and others) the camera that is nonpareil. I feel privileged for the same reason.

Dear Jim,

I rarely post, but this is rather a different occasion. Congratulations to you and to all the Red Team on accomplishing what you set out to accomplish. It can be said that this is a business, a hobby, a job, and many other things. But above all else, for you at Red, I say it is passion. And it definitely shows.

All the best,

R.g.

Action speaks louder than words in this town...

Action speaks louder than words in this town...

And RED does this in spades.

There are two days I will always remember.
The day the Doc handed me my son Kai AND
August 31st. 2007 when Steve Gibby placed RED camera #8 in my hands for the first time and said. "Let's take it underwater Sharky."

Magic moments.

Since then, my REDs have shot in 3D, remote control helicopters(oops), aerials, underwater and of course in the remotest regions of the planet and yes, I use a tripod occasionally.

The entire 2 and half years and counting - RED still answers my sat phone calls at all hours and provides customer service that well, is hard to describe.

The results of this amazing customer support have been nothing short of remarkable. And now they up the ante again. A new tool for us to tell our stories in faster, lighter and higher resolution systems.

EPIC - Happy Birthday and RED team, congratulations.
It's a "nuclear generator in a matchbox" only a father could love.

Sharky

FYI - wait 'till you see what part of the planet I plan to film with my EPICs.
Would not be possible with out RED.

Woo hoo... Congrats!

Congratulations everyone. Fantastic job so far. Jim: making all the right decisions under so much pressure... awe inspiring.

Jim,

The things you have accomplished are fantastic! :) Congratulations!
Are we going to be able to monitor REDlogFILM with 3DLUTS while recording?

I love your passion, it's truly inspiring. It helps fuel my passion. Thank you for doing what you do. Epic and the whole Red ideology is amazing to witness. Congratulations.

Delivery Numbers Once Shipping?

Delivery Numbers Once Shipping?

Jim,

Congrats! Very exciting news. Is there any word / update as to the numbers of Stage 2 Cameras that will be shipping once production begins? I'm wondering if earlier predictions are still on track, and how long I will have to wait to get my hands on my stage two camera once Tattoo is over?

Oh, is that all? I was hoping the expresso module would be developed. ;) Very impressive Team Red. Be Proud, very proud.

When you work at what you love it is not work!!! I too work at what I love and my Red is an integral part of that work & love!!!

As always, patiently waiting for my Epics!!!
