  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC... ready.

And RED does this in spades.

There are two days I will always remember.
The day the Doc handed me my son Kai AND
August 31st. 2007 when Steve Gibby placed RED camera #8 in my hands for the first time and said:

"Let's take it underwater Sharky."

Thanks to you and Gibby - and the RED team - for making it happen.

Now waiting for that EPIC underwater moment!

CONGRATULATIONS!!

Epic is way out of my league, but as a future Scarlet Fixed owner this really has me excited - and I'm adjusting interim plans accordingly:

....We have always been able to move mountains, but now we are moving them in days instead of months.

Hope you get the Epic assembly line up and running soon. And maybe leave expansion room for Scarlet. This jobless "recovery" still hurts. The US$ is way down and will stay there for some time. Why not make 'em all in the USA? A new stage in the tradition of overbuilt, rugged, innovative tools.

Many of you have heard Jim say that we have learned just enough to be dangerous.. those words have never been so true.

Look out.

Now that you're moving from boutique to larger scale manufacturing that is true in so many ways!

BTW... OffHollywood is scheduled to get the 1st shipping EPIC. I am quite sure they will let you know when they receive it and what their reaction is...

Jim

Standing by. Heart beating fast ....

BTW ... a most sincere congrats to everyone at RED. I know how hard you guys work against the odds and just based on what I have already seen ... things are going to get VERY wild - very soon. You should all be very proud.

Let's get this party started ....

Jarred,

Any chance you guys can send Hastings a dummy body so that he can begin building me a housing??? The sooner we can submerge the Epic the better!!!!

Mind if I keep quoting this on every page? :-)

Seriously, congrats to the whole RED team.

We have been up so many days in a row until 4am that it is hard to go to sleep at a reasonable hour now... and too excited.

Jim

Welcome to the world of DSPS (Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome). :-)

Congratulations to the whole Team RED!!!!

Epic 3d underwater moment

Epic 3d underwater moment

Thanks to you and Gibby - and the RED team - for making it happen.

Epic 3D UW Moment coming soon to Aquavideo.....

There is still a lot of work ahead for us... but the industry is officially on notice. :-)

Jim

What you guys created is above imagination ...but as a colorist i strongly hope that you will step back a bit for moment , forget for a seconds about new Scifi features ...and get focus on how the camera "debayer" (not sure if is the right word) color ... As a colorist Grade Red is the most time consuming of all teh professional camera ...color are quite never on the right place ...
when WB is made for Skin tone , the blue jeans are not blue , as well as the sky , or teh green is not rich and proper green or viceversa ...

FIlm or others Pro Camera gives an image that is well balanced "out of the Box" ...RED gives you A LOT of info and Dynamic range but need a lot of secondary color correction ...

It is true that the color science has been approved , but is not at the same level of Film or Alexa ...
Again not talking Dynamic range or resolution of amount of info captured...I am talking the image that we all get in RCX "as it Its" ..even if properly exposed ...the color are never right (or i should say as good as film or other digital cameras) on the various elements of the picture...

So hop you will be more focus on that in the future , now that there is no discussion that features wise you are the best company

my 2 cent

Terming this new announcement as a "milestone" would be an understatement - the words "catharsis" and "paradigm" come to mind :)

I had Jim's dream about a Red camera personally described to me by Jim way back in early 2005 (long before the camera was announced) - and I immediately jumped on the Red bandwagon, and have been here ever since. I'm naturally way stoked at this new waypoint!

Thanks for the vision and foresight Jim - and thanks to all my friends at Red for working tirelessly for 4.5 long years to make all this a reality. Your work has radically enhanced the equipment options available to all of us out here working professionally in the production industry.

In truth, its been a long road...but IMO worth every minute of it

Jim and team,
remembering back at 2007 when I saw the first time Red4k at the IBC theater I was speechless.
Second time was when I got my own RED in May 2008 and made my first steps.
Since than a lot of speechlessness from my customers.
2010 at cinec holding Ted´s Epic in my hand, I just couldn´t believe how much brain is in that "brain".
... just wanna say a big thank you for your vision and congratulations to you and your RED team.
