  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC... ready.

I expect that this will be a highly read post. Given that... I'd like to go on record that there are many faithful and dedicated people at RED that have worked tirelessly on this project and everyone needs to know how much effort they have put forth. If we ever earn respect in the industry for this work, many are responsible. There are many whose names people will never be heard. Many who have joined the fight because the challenge was worthy. My hat is off to the RED Army... every one.

Great news Jim. Had been looking forward to it desperately for this post.

Jim, You guys ROCK

Jim, You guys ROCK

I have said this before... if this was easy, the other guys would have already done it.

EPIC is a nuclear generator in a matchbox. It is the single most difficult project I have ever seen, worked on or imagined. Think about it just for a minute... what else does 5K at 120fps, variable RAW (REDCODE) and records to an SSD with ramping, HDR (with magic motion), a full 1080P or 2K direct output via HDSDI, wireless control, modular, FLUT, non-destructive LUTs, and a hundred other features in the body the size of a Hasselblad? What else does any of this? It is no wonder we are late. It is a miracle we actually did it. Truly a miracle.

Jim

This should be front page news....everywhere....:emote_head_explode:

Jim, what a journey. I guess for all of us customers who have been there with you from the beginning, it's almost like things have come full circle. We've watched this grow from an almost garage-like operation to a force in the industry. If there is ever a day to be a fanboy, this is it. Congrats on moving into the next phase and thank you to you and the RED team for your tireless efforts. I appreciate the long hours and dedication everyone is putting in. Takes a great person at the top to keep momentum going and to inspire the troops. hope you never stop pushing to the next level. No telling where you could get to. I look forward to finding out.

There is still a lot of work ahead for us... but the industry is officially on notice. :-)

That is KICKASS!

I'm so glad that you guys finally made it. Damn, it's been a hell of a ride defending you guys, but I'd do it again and again for the passion you guys put into your work. The sort of inspiring work you do, forces me to take risks and try new shit.

Thanks to the RED Army. :beer:CHEERS!

We are happy for you. American ingenuity at its best.

Keep it coming! We know you guys have plenty more crazy ideas to manifest into tangible yet surreal tools we used to only dream of.

Congratulations from Germany!
On a cold, gray and rainy November morning you made the sun burst through for me.

This will be officially noted in history books as the end of film as we knew it.

Congratulations to Jim, Jarred, Ted, Graeme and all the rest of the nameless wizards hidden behind the curtain! The little camera that could--and does. You should name one of the Tattoos 'Thomas'.

Champagne and Cigars all around (except in the clean room). ;) *To Epic and what's to come.
