I haven't upgraded my firmware yet as I am still gone for the holiday. I am wondering if anyone has experienced any bugs with the new firmware. I just want to make sure that it's somewhat stable before updating, especially if I rent it out.

Been very stable for me, haven't noticed any issues so far. Been worth the potential pitfalls of alpha firmware to have playback. Makes a big difference.

I would advise you test the alpha/beta whenever you have some time but rent it out with release firmware installed.
Unless the production aknowledge they are risking a reshoot if something unexpected happens...

Those alpha/beta builds are not recommanded for production.

edit : beta 1.7.10 and alpha 2.02 are working quite well I must say and I'm enjoying testing the new formats / features but still wouldn't use it on a big project tomorrow just to be safe. Upgrade/downgrades are so fast on EPIC it is easy to play around and revert to release build... just remember to keep a copy of your presets on a computer to restore them if needed and do the black shading (this takes around 12 minutes right now, hopefully it will be faster in the future or there will be an option to save/reload the calibration)

Yeah that's what I was kind of thinking. For those that have been using Red Alpha/Beta firmware previously, about how long do you think it takes to move into the next phase or testing or full official release firmware? I know this will vary, but ball park estimates.

I was shooting yesterday with alpha firmware and when I wanted to playback the files, sometimes it said 'cannot load the file' or smth like that. I tried to turn camera on and off, removing and inserting ssd a couple of times, but no luck. Some files were playing ok, while others could not. Eventually when I copied all the files to computer, all of them read ok. Hopefully, next firmware will fix that.

It's alpha and not recommended for production.
