  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC-M...

I think you need to read between the lines of what Anders is saying.... it is a specific 1080p camera that people are asking his company for... begins with A and end in LEXA.

I might be wrong though.

I'm confused, RED ONE has far greater than 1080P resolution, so why don't you simply buy RED ONEs instead of the aforementioned 1080P cameras?

You definitely don't need a $58k EPIC M to output 1080P - plain old RED ONE will do just fine.

D

The Epic has more advantages than a RED, besides resolution.

Dynamic range, smaller size, higher datarates, higher framerates, better menu's, much more features, ...

Hi, Jim. Would it be possible to get an update on how Epic M production is coming along? I put in an order request and I'm super excited at the possibility of getting a chance for an early Epic M. Epic is going to change the entire way I shoot my current film project, mainly due to its form factor, weight and resolution. I know you guys are extremely busy right now, so I appreciate it.

We should be in better shape to update you in a couple of weeks.

Jim

while we are on the subject of schedule, are we still on schedule? My Epic stage 2 is #683 (or in the first couple hundred cameras) I am doing a big shoot in May, will I have a camera by then?

I'd like to be in on the Epic M program if possible!

Hey, buddy... Get in line! :)

Send an email to kelly at red dot com. It seems that lots of people have applied. Realistically, many of us will probably get our Stage-2 Epic-X cameras before RED could make us an Epic-M. That's how I look at it anyway... If my number comes up for an M before my Stage-2 cameras, then I'll take one. Otherwise I'd pass because the premium for an M could be put toward something else -- New projector, 3D rig, new truck, partying like a rockstar...

I would like to see Tom get his hands on an Epic ASAP though. A lot of us are curious about Epic's timelapse and long-exposure abilities and Tom is just the man to thoroughly test it.

Jeff, love your new avatar.

"No line skipping spoken of here". =)

I haven't seen any new announcements.

Jim mentioned an update in 2 weeks about 2 weeks ago so hopefully we'll hear soon.

You'll continue seeing EPIC-M releases happening... actually two have been sent out (006 & 007). Gibby is next. Things will start to roll pretty quickly after that.

Jim

Are things still on target for the first batch of EpicX going out in Feb?
