  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I sub-rented to a local company in south FL that I work with a lot. Their client (dumb-asses) left it in a vehicle, smash, grab, gone. Over $100k worth of equip stolen.

Keep a look out please.

Justin, Im so sorry to hear about this. I worked in the sofla market for about a year. I will mention this to DP's that I know in the area.

Insurance will cover it.. the company I sub-rented to is, footing the bill even before they get paid by the insurance company.
 
Well, this sucks...

Sorry to hear about this, Justin. Great thing it was insured.

Not to dog any other production companies out there, but if it isn't your camera, please treat it like it is! Nobody should leave any gear in any car. This is one of the reasons I don't sub rent my camera...I always go with it.
 
Thanks guys.. Really hasn't sunken in yet! When the girl at the place I rented it to transferred me to the owner I knew something was up.. Just didn't know it was going to be the worst case.....

All can be replaced, but I will miss my under 1000 serial number.

Glad everything is covered and the company seems like they are awesome to get you your money right away.

Not quite sure what anyone would do with a stolen camera? It's not like it could be sold since anyone buying it would be prepared for the transfer of ownership through RED. That is if they know the process...
 
Bummer - I followed your journey on RU getting the rig just the way you wanted. Hopefully the parts are in stock the second time around

So glad to hear the subrenter is taking care of you. I have so many people asking me to make a concession for them (my gear can be subrented by one rental house, otherwise I go with it), but I'd rather not deal with their sob story after disaster strikes.

Subrenter knew this going in..... Glad they are sticking to their guns and getting me my $$ ASAP..

Thansj Robert.. Me too.. I'm sure whatever vehicle it was stolen out of is also the person that stole it.. I will be more careful who I rent to after this.. Also let this be a lesson to those who get a rental certificate and don't call to make sure it valid! This time it was, but I've gone many jobs without checking!!
