  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

**EPIC-M 00887 STOLEN**

Also let this be a lesson to those who get a rental certificate and don't call to make sure it valid! This time it was, but I've gone many jobs without checking!!

+1 and a valid CC to cover the deductible.

and

+1 for a priority for Justin!!

I vote Justin get to cut to the front of the order line - the man has paid his dues!!
Thanks Josh, I'm sure they will do the best they can.. Tomorrow is a big day of reordering..

So true!!!!! Please take this as a learning lesson! Make sure your shit is coverd and will be paid back ASAP!!

Sorry to hear about this Justin, can't even imagine what you went through when you heard about it...shivers...

Wow! Sad news to hear... especially after following you on here and seeing how long it took for you to get all the backordered items. As you know I'm in the same market as you and to hear this really frightens me... considering that I lent a local shooter some accessories and they experienced the same smash and grab robbery from their vehicle. Luckily it was just a backpack with RED bricks, 4 256GB SSD's and my battery belt clip... still though... what an inconvenience.

Hopefully your camera will surface. I'll keep an eye out for the serial #. I'm hoping this is not an organized thing here in South Florida. Regarding validating the insurance.... I'm extremely vigilant now.. no insurance no shoot... giving me the insurance certificate on a weekend or late at night the day before the shoot... equals no shoot with my camera.

Justin,

I hate hearing this. A heart breaker for sure. Find those bastards and kill em!
Hopefully it doesn't come to that.. But I'm sure they will get theirs...

There is a special place in hell for thieves.
Anything over $10 and you need a warm seat!

Praying the reordering process is a smooth one and gets you back up and running soon er rather than later.
Hoping for the same!

"your fucking kidding me right" those were my exact words.. Then I pulled out the 2" file with the receipts and started an excel document.. Saved it as "here we go again"

It surely is an invasion, no matter the amount.. I've also never had much of a personal attachment with a camera.. This one I did..

Dont just ask for insurance CALL THE BROKER!! Make sure it's valid. With 3 clicks of a mouse I can take an insurance certificate and put your name on it. VERIFY ALWAYS!

My stomach is in knots. I am so sorry. People need to guard their camera with their life!
I think a tracking device would be a great feature. I mean we have it in our $50,000 car that doesn't make us money (actually I don't, my car is only $30k), I think it would be great investment. I would just love to fucking catch the assholes..

Man , sorry to hear about this Justin, but good call renting to Folks who can pay you back upfront before the insurance comes in.

Tracking device: discussed ad nauseum every time this happens, never implemented. I'm going to find a tiny unit I can hide inside a dummy battery or similar and keep it in my kit.

Insurance: anyone with experience, please chime in--if your rental contract bears the clause "gear is considered rented until returned, under all circumstances", will insurance companies honor this? Even with Justin's ideal renters (I.e. immediate payback), there is money lost waiting for the replacements to arrive...

I agree he should be able to cut in line... right behind me.

In all seriousness, glad your situation is one where you've only lost some time and will soon be back to where you were before. In the grand scheme of things, many others have fared much worse.

Just out of curiosity, what happens if the stolen items are found. Do you get the replacement and the new one?

Even though I hate to pay the $514 a month I'm paying for my insurance now.... situations like this definitely make me feel it's worth it. I feel sorry for someone that gets their EPIC stolen before they had insurance in place... now that would suck.

Good luck getting it serviced in the future. Anyone buying used on Ebay or from a for sale by individual better make sure the serial number is not this one. You could be stuck with something you don't want and get scammed.

Hate this kind of news. Sorry man...feeling for you.

Looking at the positives, YES, it is a great that the company I rented to will pay me ASAP rather than wait.. I honestly think this is the only way I will ever rent again..

Everyone at RED is being very helpful and I am sure they will do there best to accommodate this bad situation.

That would suck, but would be stupid as well.. I had it all in place where I just had to call when I got my serial #

It's insane anyone would leave an Epic unintended in a vehicle. It's easy enough to carry with. Does make the renter suspect on many fronts. Sorry for the pain, Justin. So glad you're covered and your rental house is upright.
