  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC + Kenneth Willardt

Just wondering. If Firmware V1.0 is still being finished, what are Snake Oil, Lucky, Jackpot, Crackpot and Ghost using?

Correct... The Tattoo Program has already begun, Snake Oil, Lucky, Jackpot, Crackpot and Ghost are all Tattoo cameras that have been built in the last couple weeks. Several more are being assembled, and once Firmware V1.0 is ready, those new Tattoos will be delivered to the selected few that are in the Tattoo program.

Would love to see one of those time lapse assembly videos some day!

Big news, and yet so quiet...
I think I speak for many of us when I say, waiting for EPIC is like pacing the carpet in a maternity ward waiting room.
We're all anxious for any information that relieves the tension.
We all have high hopes for this baby.

Can't wait to break out the Cohibas...

It's not uncommon for "internal" build of firmware/OS's/software that is not feature complete (alpha-quality) to be "0.x" builds leading up to the initial 1.0 release made avaialble to customers or put in intial test (beta) builds.

We know, for instance, that when Peter Jackson shot "Crossing the Line" with Boris and Natasha, those cams didn't have much more finctionality than "start" and "stop" with a hardcoded framerate/shutter. Those would have undoubtedly been considred "v0.6" firmware build cameras, or something like that.

Wonderful news, the Fab Five, congratulation! How many Tattoo's will there be?

Jarred,

Do you think the Nikon mount will be ready when the first Stage 2 EPICS are out ?

Thanks

Antoine

I am guessing, but I think that if RED is targeting photographers then they will make it easy for them to use existing glass.

Not sure the S in DSMC means hauling/buying a lot of new PL mount glass.

Casting the widest net, I hope that Canon and Nikon glass will be supported right from the word GO.

What was the behind the scenes video shot with? Looks like a Canon to me, especially the amount of skew in the fast pan.

Looking forward to see soon here a sort of short paparazzi photo story online that was shot on a guy or girl

that potentially were using Epic Tattoo digital cinema camera somewhere in a wild (west)...

Jarred, you are so much more stealth than Jim. I am hoping that he has no health issues but rather has been banished from posting here during the first month of Tattoo. He'd be busting his buttons at a time when stealth is probably a great idea.

Jim, Jarred & co., take your time and make it perfect. I can easily wait for Stage 3.5 until Euro recovers from its recent nosedive. Let's say, for example, Q1 2011? ;)

Since this is a thread is about the EPIC being "out there", I don't think a picture of "Snake Oil" has been posted...

Jarred,

I think the remote focus is great, but how do you chance the iris on the lens? Can you assign buttons on the camera to do this, or are there buttons built into the mount?

Jay

with the REDMOTE or the REDMOTE pro...
Ooh! I hope the suggestion I made to Ted in November last year has made it into the regular REDMOTE....
