  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC is alive...

You can barely see the Side Handle on the right which gives between 40-60 minutes of power to the EPIC...

Please excuse my ignorance if I am wrong, but I thought the quote of 40-60 mins was for each red volt battery, as opposed to the integral side handle battery. But it would be fantastic if the side handle battery was also the same capacity. Does anyone know. Thanks!

Some of you I know are going to appreciate this... Clean 1080p HDMI/HD-SDI output feeds while the menus are still on the LCD/EVF ).

As you can see the new 5" Touchscreen is up and running as well...

Top notch man!

The cool thing about the 5" ( and 2.8 and 9" ) LCD is you can spin around the base 180 degrees separately from the Monitor section and reverse that LEMO port to the left side if you so desire, giving you hardcore cable management folks plenty of options...

Hey Jared, I know the 2.8" sounds a little small, but resolution is what it is all about...

How's this little baby? :biggrin5:

Yes... It is now an eject mechanism with a push button. There is also another surprise With the side cf module you will see in a couple days :)

A door over the slot perhaps? Along with higher card capacities.

Red volt fits the side handle I believe,

Didn't we hear that things had been re-engineered to have the EVF lemo connector facing forward now?

Thanks for the sneak peeks Jarred.

Yes. And anywhere else you want to put it... including your pocket.

Oh... I can see it already... the latest iPhone/iPad app for EPIC shooters...

"REDmote Finder"

First to the app store gets the cash!

the 2,6 inch minitor is very cool in certain situations, did use one with a si2k a couple of times, docstyle in places where you dont want to be that present with a cam or monitor.
congrats, i am counting with an additional of 10k in assecoires to enjoy the epic in its full joy

unusual working environments.

unusual working environments.

This may seem to be a silly question but I don't mean it to be. Will the Epic work in space (i.e. a vacuum)?

Apart from radiation (space) there is the question of heat transfer (vacuum). There is a reason for the internal fan, but I assume if you have the financial capability to get your camera into space, you can deal with external heatsink issues. (I'm not sure radiation is necessarily a show-stopper; I believe the space station has hosted more-or-less standard DSLR and video cameras already.)

So, can we get any details on what you shot the 5k 100 FPS on? Was it RedCF, RedDrive, RedRAM, Red 1.8" SSD?

So 100 FPS at 5k- pretty impressive results. What is that being recorded to? Do you know the recording limits of the CF cards? And what CF card will be used? (The current CF's, or are there newer 32GB cards coming out for this beast?)

I am so curious about recording options, especially what we can expect in high speed burst mode to CF or other similar media.

So, RED team, can you tell us anything?

This is in incredible what an exciting month this has been. first the 10k CS5 announcement, and now the announcement of the 5k Epic camera.Congrats to all the hard working engineers at Red.

Question for the RED Team:
I can't make it on the 14th, so It would be much appreciated if you could divulge a small snippet of information...
Will the 2/3" scarlet, at this point, be available to the masses before September? (I am directing/Camera operating a short around then) Please feel free to be frank.
If you don't know (which would be legitimate as the scarlet doesn't exist yet), Tell me that.
At this point I am looking at a fully kited 2/3" Scarlet and a fully kited S35 Scarlet, but this is subject to change,
And the change is heavily dependent on release date.
I might get a bare bones EPIC S35, hell I might still get a RED ONE.
I adore the look of mysterium and mysterium x and can't wait to own a RED.

Need to save some news for NAB!

Jim
(Here is something profound to share with you K. ;-)

This is news!

(Here is now something to you Jim :-)

Hope related to the Scarlet (S35 too) though!
