  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC is alive...

This may seem to be a silly question but I don't mean it to be. Will the Epic work in space (i.e. a vacuum)?

Will there be a cover for the connectors (for the Redmote) so as to protect it from the elements as well as keep out dust?

Probably not as I've not heard any mention of the chips being rad hard, and I can say from experience that rad hard technologies are definitely not as fast.

Now, if the whole thing is inside something else that could protect them, then maybe, but every chip I've worked on for satellites and such required special libraries.

1 slot on the side CF module, on the rear CF module 2 slots.

ahh, kick ass. No wonder the ASIC is so complicated and its taking longer than plan... 1080P HD-SDi, every option requested (almost)

EDIT: I say almost for that one or two people on here that will complain... this has way more features than I ever imagined.

and its working, just... wow.

last one for the night...

Maybe the side module will be 1.8" SSD slot as well? CF or 1.8" SSD our choice?! That would be awesome if you could do that!

I think you thought of a much cooler one than the one I had in mind. I am thinking of four lights to give you 0-25-50-75-100 % at a glance.

...either that, I just am not that good at guessing how much more we'd have to pay for the R&D that goes into making an even more special CF card with lights coming out the back. :001_tongue:

P.S. It's cool to throw out our ideas to RED and since they listen, they see and some actually come to pass.

Boot up time is at 12 seconds right now.. from completely off to monitor up and being able to Record.

Great Job Jim. The boot time is the greatest updates to Red family than any other thing.

Red Rocks always.

I take a weekend away from the PC to come back and find all these great images.

Well done Jim and the RED team.

Jarred - is that one of the new touch-focus monitors in the pic above?

Again - well done to all.

but hd-sdi is available via the pro i/o module - correct ?

but hd-sdi is available via the pro i/o module - correct ?

EPIC has HD-SDI output on brain, Scarlet does not.

but hd-sdi is hopefully still available via the pro i/o module - correct ?

will there be a plastic cover with the same dsmc interface to put it on the back of the camera when you take out the redmote in your pocket?
this comes very important in countries that have extra loads of dust..

definetly I don´t like the only one position of the LCD mount, DP & Directors like tu push, pull and bite something on the magic-arm.

Then this mount is a one piece with the LCD?

My bet is that 5,6" and 7" will be very popular for years.
