  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC HDR...

So Jim, is your young wife impressed yet, or is she still tolerating all the stories of glories past?

This is very good news, but Im holding my breath till I see it in motion :-) If it works with no resolution/motion compromise, would you just shoot with it on all the time?

Question: if it records 2x the data rate, does this mean HDR is for SSD only and not CF?

I have to say... the engineers earned their pay on this one. We told them what we wanted and they actually made it work. This mode will cause our competitors a lot of grief. Our resolution advantage was one thing... but add in the low light capability and now the DR. EPIC is a handful. :-)

Last year we have a 50M Panorama production with a Maximum of 7 RED ONEs

I think now you have finally put film to rest. I just don't see any real reason to stick with film anymore.

Hey guys - just to quickly chime in from the IBC show. We have just finished another presentation with Ted showing the Epic and future roadmap for RED followed by detailed demo of the STORM. We are "stormed" (pun intended) by fantastic feedback. Now STORM is amazing, but I don't want to derail this thread. The reason I want to post is that as we are working here I am watching Simon (one of the "founders" of The Foundry) standing against the wall coding on his laptop. These guys are insane (in the most positive sense of the word), just as Jim is. There's no rest for the wicked. We are all in for a treat...

I know RED have stated before that they were hoping to implement this into Scarlet but were unsure...any update on this?

This is game changing stuff...unsmegging believable!!!

I second that question, I know myself and many others here are getting nervous about scarlet with all the epic praise.
