  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC HDR...

Like Sanjin is implying...

And all that image power fits in a backpack!

Airlines are gonna put a restrain or an extra "EPIC tax" to keep their earnings when all of the RED ONE crews flew anywhere! :emote_happyhappy:

And I bought the RED ONE thinking it was all I needed (and it still is) but, even it's hard to say this, now I'm more happy than ever to have done the economic effort to get one two years ago and to have "attached" myself to the only camera company I think has a "democratic" philosophy for their customers.

With RED, cerainly, customer loyalty pays off!

Thanks Jim and all of you at the RED TEAM! You are geniuses!

I'm ready for my backpack cinematography today:

cannondale_flash_01.jpg

Cannondale Flash3 the best cross country mountain carbon lightweight bike, backpack, Gitzo tripod+Gitzo fluidhead, 10x dslr zoom, the widest dslr zoom, the fastest dslr prime lenses,...

Bomb EVF in order!

Just missing EPIC HDRx!!!

Racing Ralph's Sanjin?

Thats not what I thought about the famous Sanjin...
Porcelain tires with lousy grip. I though you were more 2.4" Big Betty in front and 2.25" MAXIS Advantage in the rear.

While there will always be "more"... EPIC is a game changer.

You will likely not ever need more. You will get it because we will make it. But EPIC is the ONE that changed everything. I have seen a lot. I own over 1000 cameras. EPIC is the one that will change history. It is the one that covers everything. Size, price, performance. If I died and went (somewhere)... I will be content. EPIC will get to market.

Jim

... And the cinema world will always remember your name. Thank you Jim and the dream teams behind all these.

Just read this tread. It reminds me of a short I saw years ago called "Bambi vs Godzilla". It's pretty clear now that Red is Godzilla and Bambi is all the others. Congratulations on an amazing acheivement. Can't wait for my stage 2.

Well, if I died and went to Heaven then I would love to capture the experience with an EPIC ;)

Then we'll have to start jacking in with neural implants to mainline the visuals captured by future iterations of Red Cams when our eyes just don't have quite enough DR or resolution.

Yep. Count me in for some William Gibson inspired goodness.

Also, can't wait to shoot on Epic.

i have an epic here with me and i just don't need anything else. The "if i just had ____ (fill in the blank) is gone. I just might retire on this one and go to fiji.

Btw... I have an epic with side ssd that shoots 5k at any redcode i want up to 250. It also shoot 120fps at 2.33:1. It weighs less than nothing. I love it. I don't want anything more...

Jim

share the love Jim !

The results are NOW.

NOW? Does that mean I can finally give you a big wad of money in exchange for a couple cameras? :)

Really though, I can hardly contain myself. ...I'm ready.

This looks alot like New Zealand ;)

Could be that Jim was sitting there at NZ coast and showing EPIC HDRx to P.J. and his cinematographer A.L.

Then the last two decided to shoot the next P.J. movie on EPIC HDRx.

ne plus ultra?

ADDITIONAL: What I'm asking is, will the push stop here? You said you started this company in order to build the camera YOU wanted. Apparently you've succeeded and the result will likely cover 90 percent of the customer base. Is it really worth the treasure and sweat to go that extra mile? Or is it better to make those expenditures defending the place you've won? Never-ending battles may hone ones fighting skills, but they also atrophy ones artistic abilities.

I say let's let Monstro evolve slowly as in a natural birth, instead of being ripped from the belly Cesarean-like. The world needed an Epic and a Scarlet. Maybe the world requires some "catching-up" before requiring a Monstro.

We have successfully tested EPIC HDRx to 18 stops of dynamic range in motion. You can use the mode in two ways... Easy HDR (in camera) and HDRx (manipulate in post). It can be used several ways, including the "magic" way... which is very cool. Or there is a "normal" way to deal with motion blur. Since it is very rare to need 18 stops, you can set different HDR settings... like +3 stops, +4 stops, etc.

You are really going to love this. We are working with the Foundry for the HDRx mode. Graeme and the Foundry boys make a powerful combination.

Jim

We have a ton of engineering footage. But we want to reveal HDRx in a "knock your socks off" way. Give us a bit to shoot some footage that is worthy of "here it is"... :-)

I will tell you that EPIC is the resolution leader. EPIC is the dynamic range leader. EPIC is the bang for buck leader. And EPIC is the size/performance leader. Actually... IMHO EPIC is, well Epic.

Okay.. you just can't go to sleep any more, he he WOW!!!!

Come on JIM!!!

Lets get this EPIC ROLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!

You guys seriously ROCK!!

I guess for what I can read I might very well drop the S3D for my first film and go HDR!!!

MAGIC MAGIC.. AND MORE MAGIC!!

Dam Jim, you got my Hearth pumping too much time to get same meds, ha ha..

Um. Jim. Do you realize this is a crime against film?

Congrats dear sir!

1 question. If EPIC's tattoo program were to have been released prematurely last December and then the official roll-out in February, how it have effected this groundbreaking HDR engineering feat? I know that you guys had great reason to (in the public's eyes) slow down, but really you just ramped everything up and put the stakes higher. I was just curious if HDR-X happened to be one of those things.

Again, I'm so happy for you and everyone there doing the magic...

Re: the lines on the chart... Last time a chart was posted that had some lines, they were said to be present within the chart. Could be that here too. Also, these are images from a beta camera, not going to read much into it until they show us images from production cameras that are ready to ship...

That scenic image Jim posted just grabs me... I don't know what's up with it, but it seems to have such a nice texture to it. Almost <cough> filmic in quality. Great color for being ungraded.
