  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC HDR...

Is there any chance that spec could bump up to 50fps for 5k for shooting in 50hz / PAL countries?

My thoughts, exactly, thank you so much for all this Jim, you seriously rock our very lives.:001_wub:

If RED doesn't give you the best cameras with the best options at the best prices with the most post options and the easiest to use and most complete post program... we suck and you should go somewhere else.

Jim

LOL - words to live by

Well done, very impressive indeed.

My birthday today and what a birthady present, thanks Jim, Jarred, Ted, Deanan and all the RED team for all the hard work, and I just Love what Jim said:

"My bet is that EPIC is the 1st digital camera to beat film in every way.

It is smaller than every 35mm film camera. It has more resolution. More dynamic range. The color science is now perfect. It is cheaper than a film camera. It records to a reusable SSD or CF. The results are NOW.

I have to say that EPIC achieves everything we ever set out to accomplish. Wow.

Jim"

Other than the additional disk space and 48fps at 5k limitation - is there any downside to HDRx mode?

I got into RED 4K mainly because for shooting nature/documentary footage (often intended for stock) I wanted the highest resolution and quality possible to future proof as much as possible. (It's frustrating to look at the hundreds of tapes on my shelves of unique creatures and from exotic locations around the world and know that it is at best 720x480).

So just wondering: is there any reason I wouldn't shoot that same kind of stuff in HDRx mode?

Well done, Red Team!
Looking forward to some testing and learning about the process...
Cheers,
Harry

Whoa.

History in the making.

Thank you Jim for being crazy enough to follow your dream. Thank you RED team.

Hats off, guys and gals...hats off...

Fucking Sick. This is why I cannot get any sleep, and I'm just observing. This is the most exciting development in Photography since the RED program was announced 5 years ago.

If the application in real world resembles anything like the harbor shot shown earlier, it would have come truly full circle.

Everybody has been feeding HDR into the collective consciousness. It's the one thing we've all wanted, and now we have it. I've seen a thousand theories on the path to this holy grail, and I don't know how you've done it, but I'm so fucking glad you have.

I can use this. Big time.

Not having to put ND on windows is a huge deal. Thank you, Jim and the whole RED Team! Thank you!

Thank you so much. I love that you are going for 'it' and taking us along for the ride. You have my gratitude and future business.

This is what I wanted hear from Jim.
The time has arrived, I have to change my Avatar (R1 to Epic).
I still love my R1 though.

Are we gonna need Red approved lens and body caps to do blackshading? With all the HDR sensitivity, we might not be able to get things dark enough in order to calibrate. [;).

"Fiji"? We're not in Fiji, Jim. Wouldn't you miss us too much? And don't even think about that other dimension you call "somewhere": content or not, we'd send out a posse to drag your ass back. Heh Heh.

This is possibly the best post I've ever read on here.
It's so awesome to read that in the present tense...

Fantastic news - congrats to the whole RED team.
