  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC and RPZs (zooms)...

Highest right now on my camera is 1/2000th sec. I'm not sure if we will go higher or not. Long exposures are being worked on.

Jim

Wow, thats incredible!

do you know the ISO range at such an incredible speed ...??

Do you have an idea of what the RAW image burst rate will be at 5k ??

this will be different than motion because you downscale to 4.5k during motion , correct?

No downscaling.

So I would think it would be the same 100-120fps (depending on aspect ratio).

what about de bayer ?

would it be possible to shoot 3 different exposures @ 30 fps 5k RAW concurrently for motion HDR ?

if thats possible any way to post process for tone mapping ?

Hi Chris,

I'm really hoping that this is what the infamous number 21 is.

The ability to essentially exposure bracket for HDR for motion would be a game changer.

Unfortunately 1/2000th sec. even so, great, is some what, a bit less then what I would have loved to have on the Epic's

Don't give up... that is just what is enabled on my camera right now... gotta read all of my post. :-)

side note: The mini-primes are designed for the 2/3rds... have you guys found the max chip size they can be used with? or are the MP's for the 2/3rd crowd ONLY

Great news/confirmation. The 17-50mm sounds like the deal of the century!

I bet once they start shipping at a faster rate there will be piles more buzz about them.

FF Clarification

FF Clarification

5K FF
Slight vignetting with 17-50mm. Solution is to begin at 19mm.
Issue with 18-85mm at 18mm. Solution is to begin at about 22mm.

Jim

Jim,

5K FF ! Do you mean FF as in a 24x36mm gate or full frame of the Epic 5K sensor 15x30mm?

I think by the time Epic is released 1/8000 will be possible because in stills mode it only seems logical with the Epics processing power that you could get that out of a RAW Stills mode

speculation

will RED RAW stills be RAW stills at Redcode 250?

He he, I NEVER GIVE UP JIM!!

I did read them all, I guess didn't understood.. glad to know there might be still possibility for higher speed, I just worried just a tiny bit when you wrote you were not sure if you were to go higher ;~)

Can Epic features be customized ?

anyway the red team could do a re adjustment to achieve higher shutter speeds, etc for a fee?

If we can do it... we don't charge for it.

great news, so we can use our current lens with minimal vignetting issues on our coming EPIC's...
