  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DSMC2. Unified.

Brendan, never can say how long upgrade programs last. We do not pre-determine a window. We monitor flow and when the time is right, the time is right. Safe to say, most times, you are talking "months", not "weeks" or "years" as the window.

Was hoping you might have a Jarred style slip but you keep it zipped up haha. Appreciate the response. Thanks for all the options!

I get that there's been a bit of an illusion of value with the upgrades and price increases over the years and this seems to be resolving that. It makes sense. I for one haven't paid full price for a body since 2012. For me now, the upgrade costs to helium and then monstro added up would basically match the value of the Monstro new now. Which is absolutely fair. Just takes a lot of the fun out of spending $15k to upgrade to a $50k camera 4 months ago. I was never likely to sell mine, so resale value is kind of moot. Downside is that even with Monstro dropping in price new, that upgrade path is now completely out of range for me. It's a happy upgrade day for a lot of people today, but Monstro got a little further away for us Weapon owners.

Curious that the CF finish is no longer part of the line - Helium and Monstro are just standard black MG like the old epics. Guessing this is another cost-cutting measure.

Hey Brent, perhaps it's my mistake, I guess I was under the impression that RED was not akin to car dealerships (that's why I invested) and that their was an ethos of looking after customers with upgrade pathways. I'm not even sure how this compares but it doesn't make sense to me - kinda feels like a penalty 'you've had the camera for a couple of years so you gotta pay more to have the better car' as though it was a leasing charge or something. The price has dropped about $5000 overnight which affects the used value to the same amount...

NJ, the flip side is, we don't do upgrade programs? I don't agreed with your intimating that we have lost our ethos of looking after customers. We are offering a path for you to go from a SCARLET-W you bought in 2016 to a DSMC2 GEMINI now. It is cheaper than buying a new DSMC2 GEMINI outright. By $7000.

We are offering a choice. If you don't like what is on the menu, don't order it.

Ryan, the Red Owner Pricing we had last year did have a WEAPON Mg to EPIC-W HELIUM path. But that program ended last September.

Brent,

I think there may be a misunderstanding here. I'm not complaining about a path or upgrades, etc. I'm simply pointing out that a user asked a valid question, in which you pointed him to a page which didn't have that info.

WEAPON RED DRAGON 6K (Magnesium) >>>> DSMC2 GEMINI 5K S35 Sensor + Board Upgrade for $6,950.......... then after that is complete, you would pay for an additional sensor swap of $9,500 to go from Gemini to Wep-H? (Total of $16,450 for upgrade to Wep-H from Wep-MG)

I've tried to surmise the answer myself. At this very moment, to get to a Wep-H from a Wep-MG it is $16,450. I believe you are validating my answer, yes? If not, please point out which bullet in the table shows the upgrade path George was asking about.

im super happy to take my SW to Gemini via this new upgrade! just gotta figure out what to do with my Weapon CF Helium I just got.

BTW if there's an upgrade order (WCF -> Monstro) place before today, would the 30k cost still hold or it has to be new cost?

Ryan, sorry, as you can imagine, my PM Inbox went from zero to full, plus emails, and trying to stay up with the posts here. Maybe I misread the original question. To go from WEAPON Mg, if you want to take advantage of current upgrades, you could go to DSMC2 GEMINI for $6950 then get the HELIUM sensor for $9500. Or, sell the WEAPON Mg, and buy DSMC2 HELIUM outright for $24,500.

Are you valuing his SW at $0 right now?

Brent,

Yep, no worries mate. I figured as much! Thanks for the clarification.

I'm not sure I follow your logic. New Scarlet W + Swap/Upgrade for Gemini = $27,000 or Gemini outright = $19,500 or used 2016 Scarlet W + swap/upgrade for Gemini = $26,468....so it looks more like $700 cheaper and the $6968 is devaluation of the used Scarlet W. Anyway I'll leave it at that, didn't intend to cause offence

I don't understand... Is it possible to upgrade from a Scarlet-W to an Helium 8K ?

Yes, but it would involve multiple upgrades. You'd have to go to Gemini, and from Gemini to Wep-H. It would cost you $22,000 in total to upgrade from a SW.

Two things guys :)

1) how long the upgrade path from Scarlet-W to Gemini will last?
2) I will miss the name SCARLET. Best sensor name

Thank you
Keep up the goood work

bought a Weapon Helium 4,5 Month ago for 49.500€
i guess you will do a free „crossgrade“ to Gemini or do an
upgrade to Monstro for just 4.950€

i Hope you will do that!!! i am a RED User since 2011.

do not disappoint me.
