  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DSMC2. Unified.

Is the Red Armor priced correctly at $5900 for a Gemini camera that costs $19,500? Fine if it is, just double checking before making a decision.

Usually a 4k Finish, but I'm obsessed with the look of a 4k finish after downsampling from 8k. Right now I just hate windowing in for any kind of higher frame rate. I shoot on a mix of both environments, but I'm also just taking storage space into account as the 8k is a monster and 5k would be some relief. It's a tough decision.

If this option was not here I would def go with the gemini, but now I will be def staying on helium.

Upgrading to Monstro from Weapon is now $40k? But the camera is worth $54,5k. Did anyone think of the Weapon owners in this equation?

I'm reallllllly hoping there's been some type of mistake on this

I’m sitting here looking at my two Monstro VV cameras.... One of which I was about to put up for sale since I would like to offload it in favor of a Gemini. I suppose now it’s better to just sell the VV sensor and get a Gemini sensor for that body, maybe. Either way, that $24.5K sudden devaluation was like a swift kick in the balls. Huzzah, everybody!

Yes...yes this hurts indeed...

Probably just for a short time:

"Monstro moves the other way… its an expensive sensor to make so it’s price will go dramatically up as it stands alone in paying for itself through this transperency. There is a window though that we can help with that… Since we do have an inventory of Monstro Sensors in hand, we can put them into the new unified body and it becomes actually cheaper ( for the moment )

The math wont make sense right now. Don’t try and make sense of it. "

Jamie, your EPIC-W GEMINI can now but updated to a DSMC2 GEMINI at no cost to you. Which means, you essentially got WEAPON-class specs.

Thanks, I understand that. But I just purchased 2x Gemini's only 2 weeks ago. Had I known there was going to be a $5K price drop on each of them, I would've waited this very short time to order them.

Love the idea of the unified bodies, great work guys.

However, maybe I'm bad at math... but if the Scarlet-W is staying at $12,500 for the brain, and the upgrade price is $12,500 on top of that, and a new Gemini is $20k it seems like it's $5k more expensive to do the above... Also seems like us Scarlet-W owners are probably better off trying to sell our brains on the used market for around $10k and buying a new Gemini instead of doing the upgrade path. Not hating on the option though, just some observation.

On the flip side, many folks purchased their SCARLET-W at the older price (sub-$10K). And have used that camera, at whatever price point you bought it. That being said, of course, we just present options. If you rather sell and then buy back in, totally what works best for each person.

That is exactly what it says:

This is why I'm hoping theres a mistake. Monstro was $80k but now its $54k- That's cheaper, not more expensive. And my WH just lost half it's value??

ok so lets say i "downgrade" to the gemini from my 8k epic w for free. Would that "upgraded" gemini 5k dsmc2 camera still be eligible for for the current upgrade price of VV for 39,500 down the road? Or will the upgrade price become whatever the VV price is at that moment?

upgrade

upgrade

So this question was asked earlier, ..

owning an Epic-W helium what does the upgrade gain other then just 60fps @ 8k????

Will it bake in color to Prores @ 4k??? THAT I could use and make money with!!!!!!

What is the advanyage here?? 60fps@8k I could care less about.
If I don't ungrade the board will the camera still be serviced/supported by Red?

Curtis

Hopefully I'm just misinterpreting this new infirmation, but it looks like the Monstro is now $54k new, (which is only $5k more than what I paid for Helium) but now the upgrade jumped from $29k to $39.5k?? please say it ain't so

Remember, Don't try and figure out the math , it will drive you bonkers. :)

However, i think it is only fair if you are an existing Weapon Helium owner though you can still upgrade for the old price untl the current monstro sensor batch inventory runs out... that seems kinda fair.... since those have already been amortized. Brent?

Yeah it's a bit of a sting that our Weapon 8k S35 now cost as much as Epic-W used to. My Weapon is less than a year old...

Mind blown and now my decision has been made easy for me, Thanks Jarred!!! HELIUM 8k 60fps upgrade via new DSMC2 internals for 5k.... I am sticking with my 8k and upgrading board. Will pick up a GEMINI after I offload this RAVEN. This is a huge plus for the entire line of cameras and in the long run will make the sensor swap program run much more smoothly.

I don't think it's free, that's the kicker. I believe it's $4,950.

Sold. WEAPON CF folks (I would say both DRAGON and HELIUM) can upgrade to MONSTRO still for $29.5K (contact your rep, won't be online) until MONSTRO sensors in house run out.

I assume this means the $12,500 Scarlet-W is going away for good though, right? So the only camera available for under $19,500 will be the Raven going forward when the current S-W inventory is cleared out?

That's what makes this all so interesting. You will have arguments that it's not a downgrade. Sure price would appear to make it so.. but we see more and more that there is specific scenarios where Helium beats Gemini and Gemini beats Helium. That's kind of the whole point of all this... its like saying a sportscar is always better than a SUV or vice versa.
