  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DSMC2 Release Candidate v7.0.0rc3

Having the same problem as Evin stated. Proxy Buffer overflow errors. 8k 2:1/422LT. Worked fine for about 2 hours and then started throwing errors. Just recording R3D was fine.

Bummer just means more work for dailies. Better then earlier releases, as it would just cut without an error

When I switch from a crop/smaller resolution back to the bigger ones sometimes there is a glitch on the screen that look like a mirror effect at the edge of the frame as if the sensor reading is not centered. I will try to replicate this and post a R3D to make it clear.

Last night I was able to recreate the problem while randomly changing the resolution, this time when going from 5K FF to 5KWS, it only happen with cropped resolution. The split or shifted image effect persists even when I playback the particular file (I tried with ProRes & R3D) and it will get back to normal by rebooting the camera. So the problem is only with the display not the ProRes or R3D stream.

Also found another problem while recording with ProRes last night, if we set the amount of monitoring sharpness to 100% it will make the 4K ProRes unusually very noisy in the dark area and the noise is also get recorded to the ProRes file. This only happened with the 4K ProRes mode, as soon as we change to 2K ProRes or R3D only, the noise is gone. It seems that the display sharpening is affecting the recorded stream of the 4K ProRes as the aliasing on the edges is also evident in the recorded image while I play it back on my computer.

I get this on current stable firmware every now and again, but a switch to and from playback preview always fixes it.

The SHARPNESS setting will always get recorded to the Proxy file.

Yep, I generally never go beyond 30 on sharpness if I am recording prores. Usually 15-25.

But yeah, if I'm just rolling r3d, I set my sharpness to like 50, helps quite a bit.

Ah, so this isn't a firmware specific issue.. I wonder what caused the glitch because the trigger is kind of random, I haven't found the exact steps to reproduce it.

I see, I was thinking the 'output sharpness' is for monitoring purpose only because it's in the monitoring submenu..

With the output sharpness set to 100% the 4K ProRes is wayy too noisy while the 2K ProRes is still very smooth, the difference is night & day between the two making the 4K ProRes seems abnormal.

I'm using an Epic-W.
I am unable to shoot 100fps in 6K WS anymore.
Is there a workaround?
Check if LOOK AROUND is not turned on... this will limit frame rates.

I did not have voltage on my AB Wooden Camera plate with the most recent firmware updates so I contacted Wooden Camera. They sent me a new module board and now I have info again.

On which build? I just had Wooden replace my board but still no info, they say it needs to be enabled in firmware.

on the latest build, unable to change the compression ratio using the SDI output. I'm using a smallHD 702 but in order to change the compression ratio I need to switch back to the Sidekick using mode button in order to change the compression on there.

You cannot control the camera through the SDI Output. You need either one of RED's LCD/EVF displays or an interface controller such as the the Sidekick, Sidehandle, or wirelessly via FoolControl.

Not about controlling it through the SDI output. Still working the functions through the sidekick but with the menus displayed on the smallhd monitor. In other words, hitting the mode button on the sidekick allows you to see all menu controls on the smallhd. Then you still have to use the sidekick to control the functions but you see everything you're doing on the monitor itself. It's been working that way without a problem up to the latest firmware. Now, I can still do all those same controls, except for the compression ratio. That one feature you have to switch back and actually view it on the sidekick to change which is a pain when you have the EW on a Movi in the ring on a ReadyRig

Fool Control works wonders when I have my EW on the Ready Rig. I'd use that solution while you wait for the firmware to be fixed.
