  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DSMC2 Release Build v7.0.2

FW7.0.3 is out

I can confirm the screen tearing and double refresh on sensor zoom and res change have been rectified, as has the misreporting of aperture F numbers with EF mount.
I can also confirm that the WC cable-less back with V8 PCB upgrade works as it should, with correct battery info.
 
New FW to fix issues quickly, nice! Also, new upgrade for HELIUM 8K to Weapon Internals same day awesome! Thanks Jarred and RED Team!!!
 
So I just updated my Helium Weapon to 7.0.3. Thanks for fixing the monitor tearing and black out issues, but now my Sigma 18-35 EF lens gos to 1.7 as an F stop in the display, displays in yellow and freezes at what is of course is really 1.8. No amount of fiddling with the touch screen, or DSMC2 side handle will let me close the iris. The only solution is to reboot. Thanks or all you do guys, just wanted to point this out.
 
7.0.3 crashes when using Sigma 18-35/1.8 DC HSM lens.
Sometimes camera decides aperture is 1.7 or even 0.7 but without adjusting aperture.
Wonder if it just my Raven with the "kit" lens or if this is common for all of us using this combination.
Now it starts getting a bit not so good here. :-(

Not a kit lens and the same thing is happening on my Weapon.

It's the lens included in RED's Apple Store Raven kit, so it's about as close to a "kit" lens as you can get for a RED :)

Also, without being too harsh... This is yet another update with more bugs, and not only that but the bugs are related to the *one single lens* that RED actually packages with a camera themselves. Really? These firmware updates are a total crap-shoot.
 
Just upgraded. Had my 18-35 on, but didn't open it all the way so didn't experience any problem. Will try again.
I did notice that the fans didn't kick in at full speed when changing to playback.
The UI seemed snappier.

BUT: Where did the audio controls go? I can only see adjustments for the headphones. I can´t even find the menu that turns the scratch mic on (they are off now)
Anyone? Or I'm I just to tiered?

Edit: restart did the trick. Luckily I took a picture of the menu with only headphones option enabled. So I know I’m not going insane ;-)
My 18-35 hung the camera when opening all the way. Showed 1.7 and had to turn camera off :-(

I remember a similar bug with the Sigma 18-35 years ago, but haven't seen it for ages... Hope this gets fixed soon, I guess I'll wait before upgrading since it's not possible to roll back to previous versions.
 
My E-W seems to work ok now, but its disappointing to hear the 18-35 is now not working right.
The poor firmware code writers at red must be tearing their hair out. It seems like there is always some bug lurking in whatever firmware is released.
 
Has anyone else tried this firmware? I’m leary to try with so few responses.

Looks like there are definitely some issues with sigma 18-35 but in pl mount that isn’t an issue .

All thoughts appreciated!

What I do not understand is that I still can not display the percentage of charge of my batteries (V-mount on the module I / O - last model from Globalmediapro, adapted for Red DSMC2).
But my settings are good ... In the "status" menu, "percentage" is selected ...

They need an updated circuit board.

Same here- Im still hanging back on 7.0.1.. only holding out on 7.0.3 because of Sigma DC HSM ART 18-35.. I have the primes option, but better the devil I know I guess. The tearing is unnerving but at least superficial, full on crashing doesn't sound worth the trade..

Is it only crashing when it's opened up to 1.8 or is it pretty consistent whenever it's attached?
