anyone know for sure if you can run the DSMC² RED TOUCH 4.7" LCD + DSMC² RED EVF (OLED) - At Same Time on Weapon?
+ have the all the outputs running on the DSMC² Base Expander

Somebody asked that question recently in regards to the Scarlet-W - http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?139941-Scarlet-W-Questions

The answer from RED was, "Yes, you will have both the picture from the LCD and EVF at the same time, however, when using both it does not allow you to use the HDMI. You have the choice of LCD and HDMI, EVF and HDMI or LCD and EVF. These options can be accessed through Settings->Display->Monitor Control->Advanced."

It might be good to clarify whether different DSMC2 camera models have different output connection capabilities.

When you want to use a secondary LCD or EVF on the side of the DSMC2 brain, only the HD-SDI can be used on the back modules, not the HDMI output.

You will need to select which one you want to use in : Menu > Settings > Display > Monitor Control > Advanced
Either HDMI or LCD/EVF 2.

It is a bit like having a built in +1 module in that regard...

that sucks for using a HDMI video transmitting to a video village. So I have to get a SDI to HDMI converter to take the SDI signal into my HDMI video transmitter.

If you can get SDI output at the same time then what is stopping Red from having HDMI as well?

1 x HD-SDI (from a module)
1 x EVF/LCD (top of the DSMC2 camera)
1 x HDMI or EVF/LCD (HDMI from a module or EVF/LCD from side connector on DSMC2 brain)

That's hardware.

I have a killer solution coming very soon assuming RED approves it.

Etienne, I think you can. It just cancels out the HDMI if you have both a EVF and LCD plugged in.

Why can't RED have us choose which to cancel out so you can turn the SDI off and use the HDMI instead or the other way round.

yeah wait, this is strange, about assistants monitors or hdmi transmitters?

This to me is crazy. I can't run an EVF on the side and hdmi at the same time?

Am I missing something?

You can use:

Display Pogo + HDMI

Both Pogos but no HDMI

Right now, you can't use:

Side Pogo + HDMI

Remember that you still have SDI in any case.

I cannot get the side pogo and hdmi to work at the same time. What combination of menu settings are you using? The only time I can get a monitor or EVF to work with hdmi is if I have it on the topside pogo. Also when powering hdmi monitor on and off (when plugged in to top side pogo, it hard restarts the camera. Are these things normal?

Actually, I just checked, you're correct. You actually can't use Side EVF + HDMI, although I have read in another thread that they are working on that combination.

HDMI shouldn't cause a hard reset. Try updating to the latest firmware, they've just released a fix for several bugs, including the 3rd party battery issue.
