  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DSMC Release v7.0.0

Just got home from a 12 days trip to Lake Toba (North of Sumatera) with 3 TB of gorgeous REDCODE raw footage! The release build 7.0 has been rock solid for me and my SW  Thanks RED!

hey gang, ..
on a shoot and had some freaky stuff happen.
camera shows date as Jan 1 2000, I had reset the date and everything when I updated to the release software.
Other thing is the menus froze when we shut down and started back up. Camera was just flat locked up! No touch screen menu, no side handle button or menu wheel response. Just flat locked up!
After a few restarts it worked but a scary moment when on set.
Anyone seen any of these issues??
EDIT; actually Almost forgot, had to remove and replace 7" monitor to get the menus to un-freeze.

Just wanted to let you know, that since this firmware the sigma art zooms doesnt work anymore with the RTMotion Lattitude. Especially the 18-35 and 24-35 (which worked flawless). Will file a support ticket. Maybe it'll help.
Will roll back the firmware, since we are on gimbal and need a quick setup without motors, but will miss the option to record sound in Slomo :(

Edit: happened on Weapon 8K have to try on Raven.

Regards

On set today and we are having issues with Scarlet W's randomly stop pushing an HD-SDI signal until we go into the monitor control window and then suddenly it works again. Anyone else have this issue? Using the Tilta back plate, but it hasn't been an issue for the past few shoots evidently.

Has been working fine so far here on Epic-W (Sigma 18-35 / 50 / 85 ART) with Latitude.

Hey Tom - sorry, I meant it was through the image pipeline > mode. I can only have Legacy for my Mg, but found it interesting that the ProRes files are baked in as DragonColor2/Log3G10

The issue you're having is completely different, and I definitely hope they fix it since that looks really troublesome!

I think i have the same issue and not sure if i'm doing something wrong or if i'm losing my mind.
i'm on scarlet-w. i can only select Legacy of course. i choose DC2/RG2 for r3d... yet, my output summary says DC2/Log3G10. and yet, when viewed in Premiere, the r3d and ProRes both look like DC2/RG2.

weird that in-camera, the output summary says DC2/Log3G10 - unless i'm totally missing something?

i actually want my ProRes proxies to have DC2/RG2 baked-in so maybe it's a minor bug and i just have to deal with Output Summary displaying DC2/Log3G10.

Hey all,

Have upgraded my Epic-W to the latest firmware and am getting no battery % or voltage readout. The space where this should show up has nothing in it.
I was getting percentage readout during the last beta firmware on my CoreSWX batteries.

But since the update, nothing.

Anyone else have this issue?

What battery plate do you have? If it's wooden camera, this has been covered before in the thread. Using a DTap cable will give you a readout or you can purchase an upcoming $100 upgrade from WC due out at the end of the year.

Manfred, The firmware upgrade changes the CTRL settings if I recall.

Sorry I didn’t explained the problem right. When u hot omg on any Sigma Art now it loses complete connection röntge system. Even re discover and switching autofocus on and off (which helped in the past) don’t work anymore. Sometimes the cam also doesn’t scan the complete focal distance and we can’t go to the closest distance of the lens. Real let down. I filed a ticket, sent a log file and hope it‘ll be handled. All lenses are updated to the latest firmware.till then baCk to 6.3. :)

Malik,

I reported the “lifted blacks” bug and Red have acknowledged the issue so they are working on it so I would assume a fix is on the way in future FW upgrades.

Aaron,

Not a disaster although there are "issues" that need to be addressed. I am using FW 7.0 on commercial jobs but I am looking forward to V7.1

"Disaster" couldn't be further from the truth. It's a great release, with a couple small bugs. None of which have been show stopping.

What is this upgrade? Shouldn't WC provide Red with code in order for the next firmware by Red to cover the issues? Or do we actually need to buy an upgrade for $100 just to be able to get it to function as supposed? If that is so this entire third party collaboration is going down the drain.

Mentioned a lot in the earlier pages of the thread, take a look there. Agree with you but apparently it'll be a $100 upgrade coming out hopefully this month, maybe early 2018. You can reach out to them directly if you'd like, they might have more updated info. I purchased a voltage meter in the meantime to get battery levels.

FYI the WC Plate is not officially an approved device by RED 3rd Party program.

I can't find anything about any $100 upgrade, so I don't know what that's about. However, if the solution to the problem is a $100 paid upgrade that's just bullshit. Red blames WC and WC needs to us to pay for an upgrade. Why don't Red and WC just honor the third party collaboration that Red marketed so heavily before? I do not deal in workarounds, this is a broken deal. If I would have known that Red and WC after some time wouldn't collaborate I would have found another solution. You mean to say that when Red earlier said that they were in talks with WC, that was about getting WC to get out a $100 upgrade?

Can someone tell me why Red just can't implement support for WC's battery plate code into their firmware? What's the deal here? I understand that it's up to WC to provide it, but whenever they do Red would surely implement that into the next firmware? I'm no coder, but I have a hard time understanding what the problem actually is here?

Also:

+1 on fans blasting when going into playback
+1 on diagonal screen tear

And the camera takes sooooooooooo loooooooonnnnnnnnnggggggggg to boot up now. It's embarrassing when my Scarlet-X is the b-cam and it boots in 1/10 the time.

Same thing with me. All 3 above. Epic-W.
