  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DSMC Quickplate Module!

One thing we just finished prototypes of this week is the new V2 battery plate that goes onto all these bits... It is way less Janky than the first one... and its shorter as well... so when you put it on a backpack on an Epic or on the back of a module, it is the same height as everything ( battery will still stick up of course ) . Huge improvement. O... and the new V-Lock rear module also has 2 x 2 pin Lemo AUX power outputs instead of that dreaded D tap.

Crap.. so much for keeping this stuff secret.

Jarred...are the power outputs for this new module on the battery plate or integrated into the module itself? Basically, when we swap out bricks, do all of the accessories powered off the Lemo you mentioned lose power during the swap, or does power flow back from Side Handle/Battery Module to power everything including external accessories during a swap?
Thanks,

-Harry

Very good question! It would be awesome if they got power back from the brain.

I have a lot of gear using D-tap, is there a conversion cable that can be used?

Very good question also! Me too I have a lot of D-tap gear that needs to be connected.
Would it be possible to have BOTH D-tap and Lemo outputs on the plate? One less adapter cable to take care of...

Oh yeah pleeease... power from the body to the lemo / dtap from REDVolts...of course not only during swap....

--> Because this is actually the Number one Rease why REDVOLTS cannot really be used on most cinestyle sets.... the Accesories all need Power and that comes from nowhere if you power redbrick.....

Can someone explain what is the difference of this and say VF plate? I'm not understand this idea. Do you use it with Dual or Quad battery modules?

Sorry, im a bit stupid this moring.

THis will attach onto the back of the epic via the module adapter and won't require a cable to power.

Totally missed this. I'm currently trying to find a v-mount plate that sits flush with the top of epic/scarlet, a RED solution could be great. Any timeline predictions? Or best to keep looking for an alternative?

I'm looking for a V-mount under 5" in height. If anyone has the answer, I will be eternally <3

You guys want to spend a grand for that feature? Must be more features to the module, correct?

Jarred, something new about this?
Also I believe there will be direct power connection to camera like from Pro battery module and not with cable into power input. Hm?

Don't worry.. Jim and I both still use V Lock RED BRICKs all the time.. we aren't getting rid of them anytime soon... there is a ton of new V-Lock stuff coming down the pipe..

I just picked up the DSMC TACTICAL (no cheese plate), will there be more options?

Jeez I just read this now.

Okay credit card waiting here ;)

wait not the DSMC BACKPACK TACTICAL plate?

Sorry Eric, it doesn't use the Backpack tactical plat :(
It attaches like any of the other DSMC modules so it can provide power directly through the contacts, rather than via a cable into the DC in port which has been the V-Mount/AB way up until now

oh crap this unit is hard to buy for :(

Not sure if it was mentioned but with this new power option, will we be able to switch from SH to BRICK (and back)?
