Crash shot the bulk of this chris robinson directed video in mid june, but we shot the lil wayne portion in january while we were also doing "drop the world"...i have included a couple of poorly shot droid camera BTS photos. note: ted from red is visiting the set, he actually had a non working epic with him and crash and I shot some interviews for use supposedly in some of ted presentations or as an update to the interviews on the home page...double note: bomb evf is pictured in a couple of the shots at the high school...no that was not mine, just a loaner from ted, but, yes, i do now rock the Bomb...used it this last week on a Pink video and also on a Cisco commercial featuring ellen paqe.

also, i think this video looks outstanding and glad they got a chance to take the extra time to make it right, my feeling is that "drop the world" was rushed, but this one has a lot of love...the projected video was a practical effect btw.

the little wayne stuff was done in late january and jarred has confirmed that this is the first music video shoot with the MX...in fact it was going to be a film shoot but crash convinced chris to do it with the MX since crash so enjoyed using the MX during the reel shoot a few weeks earlier.

i think it is very interesting to look at "drop the world" and then "no love" and compare them. the lil wayne portion is from the same exact setup, same lights, same day, same makeup, same lenses, same camera, everything exactly the same, just different lyrics. we shot one, then shot the other in sequence. but the finishing is so different. "no love" looks to me so much richer and higher quality.

i think maybe the editor did not truly understand that he had to process things with the newer codec for the MX footage. we saw a lot of that in the first few months after MX came out. i would get calls saying all the footage is green, i would direct them to red.com for the new qt codec and redcine-x and then i would get a call saying everything is fine...

i also think they spent a lot more time compositing this and perhaps he used a higher end process to get the most out of the footage, whereas they may have been rushed on drop the world.

anyway i think it looks great, but then again i already said that...
