  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DSMC Leica M Mount

i was wondering why he wasn't the first to post, looks like poor sanjin is banned right now... not sure what the story is this time, but i hope he finds a way back. this mount is gonna be awesome, but i need sanjin to talk it up a little bit!

The Official RED DSMC Leica M mount

The mount is finishing testing and should be in the store early December.

Fits both EPIC and Scarlet. Seals for dust and light.

Aluminum version $800.

I have a feeling " Leica M lenses " is going to be the search of the day on Ebay :)

Good to know, I have 28mm to 135mm variety of M lenses and old screw L mount(M39) lenses from 1939 ( my father was Leitz Camera and lenses user and I inherited from him)
I never expected from RedOne officially.
Thanks Jarred

PS. I don't like using any still photography lenses on motion picture, but hey, wtf, i might start shooting stills on Epic and Scarlet.

Love it! It just keeps coming... what a week! All these options are making things complicated, in the best way possible. Dragon on EPIC is gonna rock!

Bad timing Sanjin. What did you do this time? :)

Well, Sanjin's either banned, Ill or his internets down. There will be a reason.....

We use Leica R which are great on an A mount. My only feeling about still lenses is making sure they are held int he mount securely which is why we don't use R to EF convertors but A mount. My only gripe with it is no support for EF or Leica M.

Id be interested to know how the mount base screws hold up when changing in the field. We often use PL, Leica R and Nikon F lenses on the same day and constantly changing the mount base is a concern, will be interested to see how it works out long term. I suppose the answer should be use PL, but some lenses we want to use arnt available in PL irrespective of price which can also be a concern.

I think this M mount is a great addition. I guess Red will have to send Sanjin one for his approval !

This I like!

Absolutely!

This is tremendous! Talk about being able to shoot the highest quality in a small package. Now I will be able to shoot with my beautiful little range finder lenses! Travel light and shoot beautiful images, still and moving!

You guys shure know how to make me happy!
Well done! You are covering all the bases aren't you?
Very well played.

Awesome!

R mount is fairly trivial to adapt to EF. Like a 9 dollar adapter will work fine. Been doing that for years.

Agreed. I own a set of late cinevised Leica R primes and would still opt for the Canon mount for this reason. I use the $9 adaptors as well as the Novoflex - they are about the same.
This way, I can still use my long Canon EFs

Love my Leicas

Contrary to popular opinion the R>EF adaptor is rock solid in my experience.

But we're talking Leica M -- so I digress

it seems like some wides can not be mounted on an M mount Epic/Scarlet,

Hologon 15mm
Super-Angulon 21mm
Elmerit 28mm (first version)
Elmar 50mm (collapsible version)

I don't have 24mm, so I won't know.
Elmerit 28mm (late version)?
Summilux 35mm ASPH?

Well, it lacks the voice of Sanjin. I'd suggest to ask for your clemency, Jim or Jarred. We all got why. Actually, I should say when I saw that comparative (prior to reduser's thread) I even thought it so stupid and fully deceitful.

It was so obvious to any eyes the differences between.

But you know, apart Sanjin, who doesn't have money for, prefers to think it is 'cause it is not worthy of the effort to get it at home/office/warehouse/studio wherever.

In my country, we are used to say the worst blind is that one who doesn't want to see. It is not the case of Sanjin though. Only sometimes when he thinks he is the only guy who sees it.

Even 'cause he can even be banned once again at any time, next time he will start to BS once more, even if he may be convinced he is the only one right.

Jim, Jarred, deal?

When I take a look in such topics, S35 4K announcement and so on, I can only imagine how he should feel himself with no voice among his family.

My two cents of euro,

Emanuel :-)

(PS) If there is anything I have no clue about, please feel free to ignore my request and delete the post (de)pending on the facts. In that case, my apologies in advance.

Nice!
Leica's all the way.
cheers from Brazil

OK.. I just unbanned Sanjin... someone let him know. He will be happy with this..

Although the credit for really making me green light this mount is Mark Read from Pier 59, who begged me for this back in April and kept beeping me every week till I agreed :)

Thanks Mark and thanks Jarred.
;)
Will rock on our Brazilian Epic and Brazilian Epic little syster.
Cheers
