  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DSMC Beta Camera build 6.0.14

Tanks Trent, and thanks Chris for asking the question, I was looking for the v6 feature list also.

I woud like to suggest Red make a thread dedicated to firmware releases, it would make life a lot easier for many people, allow only the Red team to post in it so info doesn't get buried in page and pages of messages. I've spent countless hours on Reduser, but I admit lately I've lacked time to follow what's going on, I come here every once in a while looking for info but it can be hard to fin.

My 2 cents, cheers,
Damien

Jarred always posts a new thread for firmware releases in Recon. The initial release of 6.0 beta during NAB is the only exception I can think of in recent history.

I'm sorry for asking, but curiosity is getting the better of me; does thumbnails actually work on MX cameras?

Side note: it'd be cool to have "*dragon-only" (or "*mx too") beside the features that work on both platforms.

I agree, we should explicitly put camera type restrictions next to any applicable items in the release notes.

For 6.0.x:
Thumbnails - Dragon Only
Tethering - Dragon Only
3D LUTs - Weapon and Dragon with REDCAST Only

Used this newest build on a shoot last night and I have to say WOW!

The Thumbnails are an amazing and much needed addition, the 'swipe up' on the histogram iPhone style for the different modes is super cool and really fast and easy to use. I haven't even had time to dive into the Motion/Stills dual mode setup.

Woot!

Also would be great if we could have user defined setups that could be mapped to a key. I would love to change my resolution, frame rate, and calibration all in a quick single action.

user defined PRESETS are already mappable to user keys and soft keys

yes but looks like they want to be able to include the cal map in the setting so it can change simultaneously when applying a preset with another frame-rate / shutter speed.

i

which sounds like an excellent idea

We hear the requests for presetable black shade maps. Once they are made available, they will work seamlessly with the current key mapping / preset system.

I currently only have access in my underwater housing for the 4 LCD side buttons. I'd like to be able to map out a user preset that would allow me to switch from 23.98 fps, to 48 fps and when switching to 48 also at same time if possible switch to 48 fps blackshade cal for the same.

Being able to scroll thru and then select what I want to do would be just great. Soft Keys I can't use unfortunately thru the housing.

Where was that explanation that walked me thru the steps for creating a user defined preset again? I saw it long ago but didn't have time to read it.

Yes, this would make life easy.

I seem to be having a consistent crash bug nearly every time that the camera is in playback mode. Sometimes it will freeze first, then shut itself off, sometimes it will just crash without any warning signs. Sometimes it will crash within 10 seconds of the time you first enter playback, and sometimes it's up to a couple of minutes. Maybe 5-10% of the time I enter playback mode, there is no crash at all the entire time I'm there.

I am running a Scarlet Dragon
