does it fully cover or vignette at full resolution?

does anyone have any samples?

at the cost of DOF and subsequent focus wrangling, will this lens/sensor combination result in a more run and gunable camera system in that it will restore some of sensitivity not present in OLPF version 2? Not to sidetrack this query but I often shoot without light kits in exteriors and I was hopeful that this could help restore enough sensitivity to make it a formidable run and gun option..

basically I have a bit of cash/credit available and just weighing options between this lens and straight up financing an Amira (or XT if I can't stand the waiting line)...i'd love to get an Amira but the wait list has me aggravated so I am weighing getting the 700 dollar lecia mount and a noctilux instead...i don't own good glass so this would be my first legitimate lens, not a bad lens to start with I figured as far as low light goes...

lol nice david! but I cant find samples, even if the image circle fits (which I am sure it does). I would love to see samples, esp low light...

Haha.

Need a noctilux and m mount owner to get out and do some tests!
People probably have some fast voigtlander glass as well.

The Leica Noctilux works fine on Dragon. It was one of the Leica-M lenses I tested with the DSMC Leica-M Mount. I will say, since it's a bit heavy, securely mounting it is rather important.

There are other fast Leica-M lenses worth exploring with the mount as well. I will post some info soon. After a few months of doing tests I can safely say a lot of people who don't own the DSMC Leica-M Mount have no idea what they are missing out on. There's some real gems out there.

I only own one Leica-M lens but reading this I feel the need to buy a Leica-M Mount...

I'll make a post this week. I've been doing a few experiments and testing a lot of Leica-M Mount glass over the last few months. Some interesting stuff to share for sure.

Is there an adapter that can fit Leica M to Red with EF straight?

(I think this will work actually? http://www.jjc.cc/products_info.asp?id=1122&cid=0&pid=0&s_series=all)

I use just a simple ring adapter on my Nikon lenses to make them compatible to the Red EF mount. Works perfect.

I love all Leica lenses but I don't want to start unscrewing and screwing 8 bolts all the time (make that 16 for 3D).

I would like a test of the Leica 0.95 with the Canon 1.0 and the Nikon Noct. If anyone with the Laica 0.95 interested pls pm me.

Leica-M Mount lenses are a shallower flange depth. Which is why you can't just use a simple adapter from Nikon to Canon, but you can go Canon to Nikon.

On different lens mounts. I change mounts all the time. It's really not a bit deal. Doesn't even take me a minute.

As for the old Canon EF f/1.0. The newer Leica Noct and SLR Magic 50mm Noct out perform it without question.

Great to know that it's convenient in practice to change mounts Phil, thanks.

You mentioned the "Newer" Leica Noct. As old you mean the f:1.0?

Yes I believe that is what Phil meant, I think they even had a 1.1 a long time ago as well...

hi guys. i have scarlet dragon and noctilux. it covers the sensor completely. i have also tested with my 35mm summilux and it works fine as well. i shoot only leica M glass so i am happy to do any tests for anyone that needs it!

note: i have the newest 0.95 ASPH version of noctilux.

What other m lenses have you tried? How much do they breathe?

i have only tried these 2, as they are the only ones i own that will work. i have a 21mm summilux, but as phil has stated other places on reduser, the flange distance makes it tough to use. I'm sorry i can't really comment on how much they breathe, because i have nothing to compare it to. is there a test i could do to help everyone see how it breathes? perhaps just rack from infinity down to 0 and the back up? would that give you a good example to compare to?

I have found that they do breathe.

Posting a simple rack focus with a door frame or any foreground object can reveal it.

Great! Looking forward to this.

I really like to know what these gems are. I'm not familiar with Leica lenses but decided to dive in.
