  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dragon upgrades

One more here asking if Scarlet Dragon qualifies to be weaponized? Would be great I'm sure, whatever it is that's going on.

The first picture he posted reminded me of the R-1 with the ribbed top. Maybe they are going to go back to that form factor in a lighter way.
 
I still think the Epic MX is an amazing weapon that has armed cinematographers with something that no-one thought was possible from a company so small. Kudos to RED and how they are continuing to be the leaders in our industry. To think where our industry would be without RED? Just means more films would be shot on Alexa! Ha!

I've still been shooting on MX, wish it was Dragon, but I'm so incredibly blessed and fortunate to have the weapons I do.

Whatever this new "weapon" is, I'm guessing it will be yet another amazing NAB for RED. They have had a habit of blowing the doors off the place with their announcements and releases. Wait...I thought brandishing weapons was illegal? ��
 
Jarred, please clarify what happens to people that haven't upgraded to Dragon before NAB. No matter how much I want to upgrade, there is no chance I have a budget/timeframe allowing me to send in our MX to a Dragon upgrade this next coming 6 months with all new things we are testing at our place. I do hope that you will announce some kind of "end-of-road" for the MX long well before that happens?

I tried to match the picture of the Weapon to the front view of the CF Dragon from red.com by assuming the "2" assignable button is the same size. If that's true, what I would think is the Weapon brain appears to be a little wider than the current models but the camera could be the same size or thinner overall with a thinner SSD module.

It's hard to tell with the right side of the pic cut off.

My Scarlet arrived at RED HQ today for it's loong overdue Epic MX upgrade. (Yey!) It seems like my upgrade pace is a little bit slow.. :)
This Weapon is super exiting and I'm sure this'll give me something to wish for in the future :)

Yes... you need to own a Dragon to upgrade to Weapon. As long as you are a Dragon owner before NAB, you will get a nice chunk of change back to continue along the journey.

I am trying to give you that heads up.. Come summer our MX to Dragon upgrade line changes over so the old process logistically needs to end. Sorry man...I know it is a tricky situation. We just can't keep running all upgrade lines forever.

Adult Supervision is gonna kill me for talking so much about Weapon two whole months before NAB... But apart from my incredible lack of ability to continue to keep this bottled up from excitement, letting you know the auxiliary effects the new has on the old is one of the biggest reasons why it is important to share with you a bit of info tonight.... So you guys have enough runway to sort things out.

Hi Jarred,
Does the Dragon ownership here means cameras which have been upgraded from EPIC M/X also???? and do owners of Carbon Dragon get preference over upgraded Dragons as was
the case while EPIC M to Dragon upgrade?
