  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dragon Upgrade Update - Epic-X upgrades and Dragon Epic-M orders begin to ship

I can't wait until they get past day 1 orders. That will be nice.

Heck, past 5 minutes of when it went live.

I'm interested to know what the turn around times are, I know it's quoted as 7-10 days, but it'll be interesting to see what mine ends up as.

Mine took just over three weeks, but it was during NAB and that might have slowed things down.

What kind of turn around time should we realistically expect for the OLPF swap? It's not a user replaceable thing is it? Looking forward to the final piece of my Dragon!

I dropped mine off at RSH on the 15th (before they make their run out to the service center) and just picked it up today.

Nic. So just about 5-6 business days.

Question, on, when the upgrade is done are these being shipped back via fedex ground or overnight?

RED received my dragon on a Monday and shipped it back to me that friday of same week. It arrived Monday morning via fedex. 5 business days in total. I consider that super fast turn around

Anyone have insight into order date or where we're at in the list?

Wondering if I buy Epic X now, what time frame do i have before the Dragon upgrade window closes?

My upgraded needed a small repair, so turnaround time not including couriers has been 15 working days so far.
I'm assured that it will go out tomorrow.

Ours also needed a small repair when it got sent in for olpf swap.. Now I have been without camera for over a month and a half. But just got an email that I would get the Fedex notification any day now. I understand things can pile up and take time, but whats sad is during the whole wait I never got any kind of time estimate.. I though a couple of days. possibly 2 weeks or so. So we been renting cameras to fill the gap... now a month an a half later, the bills for camera rent is well above the cost for a new epic. If I would have known I would have chosen to do differently. As "upgrade down time" is not really covered by insurance so in retrospect I would been much better off if I just bought a carbon and saved our epic MX and have 2 cameras for far less money and quicker, as our camera was gone for over a month when upgrading to dragon, old olpf, as well so over 2,5 months down time for the whole upgrade that hurts if you are used to shoot and or rent it out a lot.

I was told yesterday they are still processing orders in Late April 2013. They are moving to May soon.

Yikes. One of mine was processed in August. Looks like at this rate, it'll be a full 12 month lead time if it gets in my hands within the next 60 days. Good thing Epic jobs are slower next month.

any news on rate of new epic-m dragons going out into the world now?

I was wondering this too. I was thinking of seeing if I can either get financed or get the cash together to purchase a new brain, but I'm definitely not going to even try financing if it's going to take months to receive. Be nice if I could get one before or right after my Scarlet gets upgraded to scarlet dragon, but who knows.
