Dragon Upgrade Update - Epic-X upgrades and Dragon Epic-M orders begin to ship

Let us get a little more historical data with the ramped up resources before I comment on that. Well, I don't have to wait on that to say it won't be years : )

Brent, any idea how long it takes between confirmation of payment and an RMA to get the camera in? I'm trying to ship mine in this week to make it down there by friday.

SHould be within one business day. If not, send me a PM and I can fwd to the DRAGON upgrades team.

OLPF upgrade

OLPF upgrade

Brent, what's happened to the OLPF update program? It seems to have ground to a halt. I have a Dragon received in December with the old one, and no time estimation is available from anyone I can speak to at Red.

Mark, that does not sound right. Those are being done. Let me fwd your post to that team.

If you need your OLPF updated, simply contact dragonupgrade - at - red - dot - com for an RMA number.

· PRIORITY 4.2: EPIC-X DRAGON Upgrades: After all owners of PRIORITY LEVEL 3 have been notified they are eligible to send in cameras for upgrade, EPIC-X DRAGON upgrades will begin to be processed. Shipping.
· PRIORITY 4.3: SCARLET DRAGON New Camera Orders: Expect to begin in June 2014.

Trying to understand this - does this mean I can expect my Jan 2014 order for an EPIC-X upgrade to Dragon will be called in before June? That doesn't seem right at all, so if not, what is the timeframe by when I can expect to get notified? Sorry if I'm making anyone repeat this info, but I couldn't get any clarity from what I read so far.

That's tough when epic users have been used to the fov of the 5k MX sensor. The same fov on dragon is 5.5K.

Which a 2010 Mac pro 12 core with a Titan in it can handle just fine. Premiere, Davinici, whatever you want. Not that much $$$. Renders are about 1/3rd real time, which means an entire feature would take 4.5 hours to render. Really don't see why that is an issue. You don;t need to work in full res.

I'm pretty sure that is not what it means. The Epix-X to Dragon upgrades have begun, but 4.2 and 4.3 are to run in parallel, with 4.2 getting a little head start this month and then 4.3 coming online in June, well before 4.2 has been completed.

Sorry, but I can't help you with the second question of when you might get your notification.

No. 4.2 aka Epic-X to Epic-Dragon was supposed to *start* in June, but got started a bit early. So your (and my) Epic-X orders will come up once everyone who ordered before us has their upgrade completed. Which may be in June but is probably highly unlikely. I'm expecting August at the earliest. Unfortunately unlike the brand new Epics, we can't go off of Serial Numbers to get a feel for how many cameras they are cranking out every week.

Gavin is totally correct, it's based on time of order at this point. Some of us ordered the minute this went live, which is why mine JUST went in this week, same with Domenic Barbero's as we ordered within minutes of eachother.

Seems like speed is picking up, so I'd say hold tight for july/august, but RED will only get faster as they streamline their process.

Thanks for the clarification, guys! Thinking June would be the month made me feel good for a while there, real good. :001_cool:
