  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hi Jarred,

That's what I'm talkin'bout! That is an appropriate and timely bit'o info.! It strikes me that I would surely like a some regulating software or some other method, for the camera to allow different rates of communication, for the different Modules. Is that the case, or is it one module & media flavour or the other?

Since I have your ear, how is the newest batch of sensors?

Hi Jarred! Are you in a position right now to update us on Dragon sensor yields?
 
Sensors we are getting out of the oven now are fucking incredible...... just wish we could make more of them faster. Yield is getting better every week and we are shipping more and more Dragons everyday, but we still are not at the rate we want to be at.

I`m sorry, what is this talk about mini-mag Side Modules? I`ve beem following reduser daily and I`ve never heard of this before.

From what I get it is a module to use with the new mini mags but what is the advantage over the old normal ones?

Much faster disk/transfer speed, smaller physical size and much larger capacity (up to 1tb?).*

Can not wait for mine. Looking forward to putting a sexy car in front of it.. maybe an SLS Black Series or something.

I guess I've been lucky, I got to work my Epic pretty hard this year. I am looking forward to the Dragon though. I do wish it had more frames per second.
 
I'm confused about these faster minimags.. Are they necessary for full Dragon capabilities or does Dragon have full capabilities with our regular SSDs we've spent so many thousands on?

Hi Daniel,

That is exactly what I was asking above and have been thinking about, as it relates to upgrade vs. buy new, for some time. Do we have a software limitation in the camera, that is either one type SSD or another, without a non-factory changeout, or is this a smart software that will adjust to whichever SSD is in place? Alternatively, is this a hardware and software dictated set that is factory set? Going forward, will the Dragons have a limitation, at a future point, such that only the new SSD's will function?

The present Dragons work at full functionality with the current SSDs and so one should not worry about the new mini mags and new minimal side SD module unless one wants to wait. I presently have 2 Dragons working in an amazing way on my little feature here in Atlanta. I expect that when the new minima's come out and the new side module I might upgrade sometime next year. But I am happy with how it is all working right now...
What I know is that once more of all of you are shooting Dragon we can spread the word on how amazing the image is.... Alexa is a good camera and produces great images... Dragon is like an Alexa times 100.... DR, Creamy skin tones and resolution.... Come on what more do we want?

(Oh I have some ideas for Jarred and Gang but they are about peripherals

Thanks Peter... you are correct. The Dragon works just fine with the current SSD's, the mini mags just are smaller, bigger, and much faster. So not only can you offload off the cards faster, but you can record in small compression ratios.

All those details to come later, but just as an example, with the current full size REDMAG cards if you record 6K @ 72fps your minimum REDCODE setting is 15:1. With the new Mini-Mags, that compression number goes down to 12:1.
