Dragon M with magenta highlights

Hi There

I thought magenta highlights were a thing of the past? I just got my dragon and i had to have the sensor aligned as it was out of wack from the factory. I just got it back from a camera tech and doing some camera tests and the highlights have that horrible magenta cast. This was shot at EI640 and nothing was clipping and no traffic lights

Hmmm. Something makes me think your RCX needs to updated or reinstalled. Are you using a Rocket-X?

Im using the current v30 on a mac book pro retina late 2013 model.

I reinstalled Redcine X and still the same (no rocket), but you are right as i just loaded the clip in resolve and the highlights are not magenta.

Huh. Weird one. Might be a bug. If you reset the look to "meta" do you still get the magenta? Something somewhere is making it confused.

Try setting up a Guest account on your Mac and loading up the footage in RCX. You may have a corrupt preference file on your user account, as preference files typically aren't removed when reinstalling.

If it works, might have to do some research as to where RED stores their preferences in your user Library.

I am not seeing it here either, but I am pretty impressed with the detail that can be pulled out of the blacks at 1000ISO.

Try an RCX Denoise value of 2 or 3. It makes a noticeable difference.

I don't see it when graded properly from log. We can all see plenty of noise in any log image. Also might be the beta software version of RCX that improves things overall.

Try this:

Close REDCINE-X.

Open a window in the Finder, change it to List View and type "Library" in the search bar at the top of the window.

Click the + button (on the right) and change the search criteria to "Kind" is "Folder." You should only see folders called "Library."

Click the + button again to add a new parameter.

Choose "System Files" - "are included." Somewhere in the list is the Library folder that is normally hidden from view. Select each folder until you see the one with the path, <Hard Drive Name><System><Library> at the bottom of the window.

Click and drag that folder icon to the Favorites list in the sidebar to make a shortcut for it. Otherwise, you'll have to go through all this again.

Open the Library folder and locate the Preferences folder. Open it and look for the files called, com.red.RedCineX.plist and com.red.RED-Watchdog.plist (just to be safe) These are the Preference files.

Throw them in the Trash (DON'T empty the trash just yet) and restart REDCINE-X. New versions of these files should automatically be generated when you reopen.

If your problem goes away, one of these was the culprit.

If that doesn't fix your problem, locate and open the Application Support folder in the Library folder.

Find the folders called "red" and "REDCODE" and put them in the Trash.

Go to the Applications folder and throw away the "REDCINE-X PROFESSIONAL" folder.

Reinstall REDCINE-X.

If none of this works, I don't know what to tell ya'.
