  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dragon in the UK

Congrats, nice color rendering really.. Do you think that perhaps you can post some shots with RLF-RC3?. I think, RLF renders even better skin tones, but I could be wrong, thanks.

Judge for yourself - I think in the past I've felt that way because it naturally gets you thinking lower saturation, and masks any unwanted tones the easy way. Either way RLF vs RG3 still does what you'd expect. I don't know if RLF needs any changes for Dragon?

That beach shot is sick! Holds sand:check. Holds blue sky:check. Holds detail in black swimsuit in shadows:check. And no IR contamination:check.

Wow thanks, I was wrong, not much of a difference except for the gamma, cool!.

Congratulations on receiving the Dragon! Real nice shot at the beach there with the sky and all, this is gonna be fun I see :-)

Thanks for your tests John!

How is the IR contamination with the new OLFP?

Have a nice shoot!

Pat

I've only tested anecdotally, but it looks good. The appearance of the OLPF is different, I don't know the technical detail of course... the whole OLPF area has undergone a redesign too.

I'll do my own more scientific tests on spectral response soon and share if there's anything important to know. So far it seems like a non-issue.

...shots looks great. Anything low light that could show an underexposed / black section? Really curious to see the blue channel noise on the new sensor at 800 or higher. Regardless, thanks for taking time and posting images out of the new sensor.

How does the dragon stack up against the Mono?

Dragon makes much better colours ;)

Mono is still sharper, - remains to be compared for tonality... they're just different beasts. Mono looks quite distinct from desaturated EPIC, Dragon looks quite distinct from both.

I have a lowlight test slated soon. I'm still only just counting days rather than hours that we've had it :)

...rad, looking forward to seeing what you shoot!

Thanks John. That is really appreciated. That is what I am looking for. Images of people. Just ordinary shots where the camera is not being stress tested (though that has been useful too). It is looking very promising given that the colour science has not yet been implemented.

Wow... looks amazing. Lenses used on those pics?

John, thank you so much for sharing!

The skin tone looks great there in daylight. If you have a chance I would love to see how skin looks under tungsten light.

Enjoy!

Rich

Im eager to se interior shots with windows in to se how it holds up.

Nice work John!

I'm just curious as to how long the upgrade took to perform from the UK. Is it one of those "ship back to California" things like when we got the heat sink upgrades for the Epic-M? If so I guess I'll have to look at scheduling a month without the camera... :(

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case now at such an early stage, but has anyone heard whether there are plans for the upgrades to happen locally once the programme rolls out a bit further?
